Kurtis Whittle

Kurtis started with No Strings Theatre performing in our 2007 Summer Intensive show, Seussical.  Inspired by a love of singing and stage, he went on to study vocal performance in the Music Department at the University of Western Ontario.  Now back in Toronto, Kurtis says:

"My last show with No Strings was Les Miserables (2010), where I had the privilege to portray none other than 24601 himself.  I had come a long way since my monkey debut four years prior in Seussical! I miss the program dearly, and No Strings Theatre helps remind me every day of why I went to Western to pursue my degree in Music, and why I'm back in Toronto pursuing theatre.  This past July, I performed an opera in Italy, and I owe so much of my success to the first teachings I received at No Strings Theatre."

No Strings Theatre wishes Kurtis great success in his career!

Industry Buzz: Acting Up Stage Company

Toronto loves musicals, and we're very lucky to have Acting Up Stage Company here, offering top-quality productions.

The next production from Acting Up Stage will be Uncovered: Simon and Garfunkel (November 3-5, 2015), featuring "The Sound of Silence," "America," "The Boxer," "I Am A Rock," "Mrs. Robinson" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water."  Under the musical direction of Reza Jacobs, a cast of spectacular talents - including Louise Pitre and longtime seminar guest of No Strings Theatre Michael Therriault - will bring the songbook to life.
Theatre Quiz!

Many of our No Strings Theatre friends know that Susan Cuthbert, an important member of our Creative Team, starred as Christine Daaé in the original Canadian production of Phantom of the Opera.  Another member of our No Strings Theatre team, William Shookhoff, was associate music director for the Canadian productions and worked with notable Phantoms Jeff Hyslop, Colm Wilkinson, Chris Groenendall, Peter Karrie, and Paul Stanley (of KISS).

Now here's your quiz:

Who did Andrew Lloyd Webber originally write the song "Music of the Night" for, prior to deciding to use it in Phantom of the Opera?

Do you know the answer? Be the first to email it to directors@nostringstheatre.com to win tickets to our Holiday Festival!
