Message from Mrs. Kunze
A HUGE THANK YOU to PTSO and all the volunteers for a very successful Color Run this past Thursday. The event raised slightly over $4,000, which will be used to purchase additional tables for the cafeteria patio. The students had a blast getting covered in color, eating snow cones and popcorn, socializing with their friends, and of course dunking Coach Santoro, Coach Abbatinozzi and myself in the dunk tank.
Also, a HUGE THANK YOU to Mrs. Geiger, Mrs. Montesano, and Mr. Wilson for organizing this year's Night of the Arts. The event last night was very successful and we want to thank everyone who attended to celebrate all of the creative outlets for Swiss Point students.
On Thursday night the district hosted their Annual Volunteer Appreciation reception. The event honors one student, adult and senior volunteer from each school in the district. This is a wonderful celebration to say thank you to all of the volunteers who make such an impact in our schools. It is a difficult decision each year to only select one representative in each category as we have many outstanding volunteers here at Swiss Point. This year, Swiss recognized Cassandra Dawson as our student volunteer. Cassandra has logged over 372 hours in the past 18 months volunteering in one of our self-contained ESE classrooms before her school day starts at Bartram. We are very thankful for Cassandra and her dedication to our students! Swiss recognized Heather Granby as our adult volunteer. Heather has logged over 159 hours in the past 18 months being involved with PTSO and organizing our Book Fairs. We are extremely grateful for Mrs. Granby and the dedication she has shown Swiss Point! Again, we would like to thank ALL of our volunteers who assist us daily. We could not operate without you!! I would also like to recognize and thank Kathleen Roberts, front desk receptionist, for being Swiss Point's volunteer coordinator.
Testing starts this Monday with 6th grade math. Please refer to the Special Edition Raider Rap for testing to know exact test dates for your child. Please ensure that your child gets a good night's sleep and eats breakfast. We want students to be confident and not stressed about these tests. Students have worked hard all year and now is the time to show off all they have learned. We ask that you encourage your child to do their best, but don't over emphasize the importance of these tests to cause anxiety.
We have several events happening this month, so please mark your calendars.
Thursday - Sunday, April 21st through 28th - Spring Musical
Production of Legally Blonde Jr.
Saturday, April 23rd - Relay for Life at Trout Creek Marina
Thursday, April 28th - Dreams Come True - Dreamer Party

THANK YOU to the students who participated in last Friday's PJ & Hat day for Relay for Life. We collected $197.

Parents, I know you may think it is too early to be thinking about you 6th grader's Tdap for 7th grade but it is not! So far only 90 students have received it. That leaves just about 290 that still need the shot for 7th grade. The Tdap shot must be documented on a Florida 680 form. This can be obtained from your doctor's office, a walk in clinic or the St. Johns County Health Department. Please call me at 547-8628 if you have any questions. You can also email me at the above email address.
Thank you, Nurse Beccard
