Message from Mrs. Kunze

I hope everyone has had a relaxing and safe Spring Break.  Hopefully, the students will quickly get back into the routine of school to finish the last 9 weeks.  Remember that we have testing this quarter that starts April 11th.  PLEASE check the school calendar before scheduling appointments.

On Friday, March 11th we had 72 students recognized during our monthly Character Counts lunch.  Thank you to Hero's Eatery for providing pasta & bread.  Congratulations to all of the recipients!

Report cards will be sent home on Monday, April 4th.

THANK YOU to parents who took the SAC Annual Needs Assessment Survey.  We ended with 457 parent responses. THANK YOU for your support!

PTSO will host a Color Run on Thursday, April 7th during the school day during an extended Raider Hour.  The cost is $35, which includes a t-shirt, snow cone, and popcorn.  There will also be music and concessions.  The proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards purchasing more tables for the cafeteria patio.

The Battle of the Books team competed before spring break at Landrum MS and placed 3rd in the district.  CONGRATULATIONS Raiders!!
Camille Aguilar, Connor Searcy, Colin Whatley, Abby Wilson, Bridget Clift, Reyana Torres and Justin Evans

On Saturday, March 12th Swiss Point had 3 students who competed in the Nease Middle School Track and Field invitational.  This was the first track meet for these students and all 3 placed in an event!  Congratulations to Emma Budde, Liddy Dow, and Harper Yourkovich!   Way to go Raiders!!

Raider Hour activities this Tuesday, March 26th.
Students who need to make-up a test or see a teacher for remediation takes precedence over attending a meeting.  Academics are always top priority!!
Make-up testing in cafeteria
7th grade behavior expectation assembly in auditorium
Dreams Come Tru in 560 w/Burnett
Debate Club in 335 w/Worth
8th gr Art Club in 755 w/Montesano
Robotics Club in 510 w/Stanke
Video Game Club in 355 w/Toblin
Band Groups (French Horn Friends, Tuba Tutors, Baritone Buddies, and Bassoon Buddies) if needed

Below is the FSA & EOC schedule, PLEASE mark your calendars and try not to schedule anything when your child will be testing.  The tests are all back to back so squeezing in make-up exams is very difficult.  If you are discussing schedules with a mom from a different middle school, our schedule is slightly different.  The state selects schools every year to help calibrate each exam and Swiss was chosen for 6th grade math, so we must administer 6th grade math during the first week of testing.

Tuesday, March 1st - FSA Writing (120mins)
6th & 7th grades are paper/pencil
8th grade is computer-based
April 11th - 14th:  6th grade FSA Math

From the Nurse
Joan Beccard
Licensed Practical Nurse
547-8628

Parents, I know you may think it is too early to be thinking about you 6th grader's Tdap for 7th grade but it is not! So far only 80 students have received it. That leaves just about 300 that still need the shot for 7th grade. Spring break would be a great time to take care of this requirement. The Tdap shot must be documented on a Florida 680 form. This can be obtained from your doctor's office, a walk in clinic or the St. Johns County Health Department. Please call me at 547-8628 if you have any questions. You can also email me at the above email address.
Thank you,        Nurse Beccard

5-2-1 Almost Done
Parents, so many students come to the clinic and have not eaten any breakfast. They tell me they did not have time. I keep going back to the jingle I learned from Nemours on their phone when you are on hold. It had kids singing "5-2-1 almost none." That stands for 5 fruits and vegetables, 2 hours or less of screen time, one hour of physical activity and almost no sugary drinks! That is what they should be doing daily. I wish that everyone would try to practice this. You will not only be helping them with their health now but also their future health
