Message from Mrs. Kunze

The 8th graders returned from Washington DC yesterday morning.  It was an amazing trip with lots of fun and learning had by all.  Students visited Mt. Vernon, The Holocaust Museum, The Archives, The Capitol Building, The National Cathedral, The Newseum, the Air & Space Museum, the Natural History Museum, and several memorials - Lincoln, Vietnam Wall, Korean, MLK, Jefferson, World War II, and FDR.  We also spent one morning touring Gettsyburg and an afternoon learning about the Amish in Lancaster, PA.

A HUGE THANK YOU to our adult and teacher chaperons who attended.  We could not take the trip without you!!

For 7th graders interested in the DC trip next year, sign-ups will be in September.  The cost is $890 for students and $990 for adults.  If you are worried about the cost, try saving $100 a month starting this January.

Please join me in wishing Santhya Raman good luck as she represents Swiss Point in the District Spelling
Bee this Wednesday, January 13th.

On Wednesday, January 13th, we will hold our quarterly behavior expectation assemblies and will complete the required drills - fire, bomb, tornado and intruder.  It is important that children take these drills seriously so everyone knows how to respond in case of an emergency.

Report cards will go home on Monday and will also be available on HAC.  There are some students who have an "I" for their mid-term or final exam grade.  There were some issues with some exams being scanned and we had many students who needed  to take make-up exams.  The district will have the "Is" replaced by January 22nd.

Current 6th grade parents:  It is never too early to schedule a doctor's appointment for the REQUIRED Tdap vaccination that your child MUST have for 7th grade.  Every year we have students who can not attend classes, because they have not received the vaccination.  PLEASE plan ahead!  We will take the Florida 680 Form (blue) at any time now through August.

Current 8th grade parents:  PLEASE ensure that you are reading the "8th grade Corner" section of the Raider Rap each week.  In this section we list all of the information provided to us regarding high school registration, Career Academies, and Bartram's AVID program.  Check this section out, so your child does not miss out!!
