Message from Mrs. Kunze
It is hard to believe that we have completed 6 weeks of school. The time is flying by very quickly. District quarter exams will NOT be administered this year, due to the district's efforts to reduce testing. You will notice on the Swiss Point calendar October 13-16th designated by core subject for end of quarter testing. These dates are there in case teachers are trying to finish a unit of instruction before the end of the quarter. We did not want all teachers giving exams on the last two days of the quarter, so students were overwhelmed.
Swiss Point has a Shoparoo account. Shoparoo is an extremely easy way to fundraise for Swiss Point. All you have to do is download the app on your phone and take pictures of your shopping receipts. We earn points for each receipt, which turn into dollars for Swiss! How easy! Patroit Oaks just received $1,000. Please download the app today and enter Swiss Point's code - swub3488.
Personnel changes
Teacher for Math 2 (replacing Sekora) - Mrs. McNamara will start Monday, Septemer 21st! YEAH!!!!.
6th grade Counselor - A candidate has been recommended to HR. We are waiting for her to move from Ohio and complete the HR process.
Pre-Algebra & Math 2 Advanced teacher (replacing Mrs. Collier) - We will re-interview for this position early next week. Until a replacement is hired, Mrs. Stackhouse, Assistant Principal, is teaching the skinny class and Mrs. Dean, Testing Coordinator, is teaching all other sections. Both of these ladies are former math teachers in our district and are very qualified.
Please remember that parent-drop off in the morning starts at 7:10am.
THANK YOU to PTSO for a fantastic Neon Bash this afternoon! The students had a wonderful time dancing and socializing with their friends.
During Raider Hour on Thursday, September 24th, we will have the following activities: Student Council meeting (Huber), Debate club (Worth), 6th grade Art club (Montesano), chess/checkers club (Rizzuto) and book club (Gill). Students signed up for clubs during our club fair earlier this month. Students have been given passes from the club sponsor to attend. If a student has to make-up a test or see a teacher for remediation that trumps going to a club meeting. Taking care of academic concerns is always the #1 priority for Raider Hour. Mrs. Rizzuto is asking that members of the chess/checkers club bring a chess set to school, if possible. We only have a few sets, which will not be enough for everyone to play.

Friday, December 18th is our last day before Winter Break. Students will have a 1pm dismissal on the 18th.

It has been shown that students who are involved in school activities earn better grades and enjoy school more! Five reasons students should participate in school activities:
1. Spend time with friends and meet new people.
2. Enjoy school more and take pride in your school.
3. Trying something new can be fun.
4. Develop leadership skills and talents.
5. Relieve stress.

Judy Gill, Media Specialist
Chris Southworth, Media Paraprofessional
There is lots of activity going on in the Media Center. Please make sure your student is returning their books on time. There is a date slip at the front of their book when it is due. Every day that the book is overdue, the student has a .05 fee. There are many late fees that have accumulated already this year. Please remind your student to return their books. A student can renew their book one time if they are not finished with the book. (Unless the book is on hold for another student OR it's a Sunshine State Book)
Book Club will begin THIS Thursday September 24th during Raider Hour. Students will need to get a pass to come to the Media Center in order to join the club.
Congratulations to Skylar Kyle and Camille Aguilar for reading ALL 15 Sunshsine State Young Reader Books already this year!
