We hope everyone is enjoying their summer.  It is hard to believe that the students will be back in 31 days.  


 

If you haven't stopped by to pick-up your child's report card, Civics EOC score report or FCAT Science score report, the office is open from 7:30am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday.


 

Please remember that this Monday, July 13th is the last day to request a course change.  Please email me at Lisa.Kunze@stjohns.k12.fl.us  I have responded to everyone's requests so far.  If you did not receive a reply from me, please resend the request in case for some reason I never received the original email.


 

Schedules will not be available until Saturday, August 8th during our "Get Ready for School" event.  We have received many calls because some students saw a schedule during the District's "Roll Over" to the new school year.  We have unscheduled all students to make some course changes to the master schedule, so the schedule some students saw is not accurate. 

 

We have received several calls regarding dress code and backpacks.  Nothing will change from the last few years. Students will only be allowed to carry a drawstring bag during the school day to their classes.  The straps of the bag must be the strings that cinch the bag closed.  PTSO is selling a drawstring bag for your convenience.  Students can carry a large backpack to and from school, but this bag must be kept in their locker during the day.

We will enforce the St. Johns County School Districts dress code, which starts on page 12 of the 15-16 Student Code of Conduct.  Students are allowed to wear sandals with a heel strap in middle school, so the cute open toed sandals that are popular with the girls ARE allowed.  Our typical dress code violations are skirts or shorts shorter than 4" above the knee, spandex or yoga pants, see through shirts, and shirts that are too low revealing cleavage.  Below is a link to the Student Code of Conduct to read the entire dress code.

ALL of the information below has been in a previous Raider Rap.

 

The math department has decided to CHANGE the calculator that we are asking 7th & 8th grade students to purchase.  After continuing their research on acceptable calculators to use on the FSA, the teachers found that the Texas Instrument TI-30Xa is more user friendly than the Casio that we previously had on the list.  Students may use the Casio, if it has already been purchased.  We apologize in advance for any confusion or inconvenience that we are causing.  Since there is such a difference in the calculators, we felt that the students would like the ease of functionality of the Texas Instrument calculator better.

Last year PTSO used an outside company to offer school supplies as a small fundraiser.  The feedback from parents and students was that the supplies were not of very good quality.  This year the school will be working with PTSO to create our own supply boxes.  ALL of the 6th grade supplies can be purchased online, but only the 7th & 8th grade homeroom supplies can be purchased this year.

 

We will be using a safe online payment program called SchoolPay.  You may purchase supplies online until midnight, Sunday, July 26th.  Supplies will be available for pick-up on Saturday, August 8th at our "Get Ready for School" event.

We hope that everyone will be able to attend this event to pick-up class schedule, textbooks, lockers, supplies ordered online, etc.  

 

We ask that you please try and attend during your assigned time to help with wait time in lines.  We understand if you have children in multiple grade levels and want to bring them at the same time.  If you are not available to attend, you may give a relative or a friend permission to pick-up materials.

Students entering 6th grade in August 

Welcome to Swiss Point MS!!  Below is your summer reading assignment.  To prepare for 6th grade math ALL students need to have their multiplication tables MEMORIZED.   Please work with your child over the summer to ensure they are ready for 6th grade math.

Important change for 6th grade camp!  Due to a scheduling conflict with training being offered at the district, we need to change the dates of the 6th grade camp to Thursday & Friday, July 30th & 31st.  We apologize if this causes any issues with attendance and will refund money if necessary.

There are still 220 students entering 7th grade in August who have not had the REQUIRED Tdap Immunization.  We MUST receive documentation of this immunization on the Florida Shot record, DH 680, before Saturday, August 8th or your child will not be allowed to attend classes on the 10th. PLEASE make your appointment and bring us this form this summer to avoid a long line on Saturday, August 8th.

Description of Sunshine State Books 

 

There will be an informational meeting after Open House on Tuesday, Auugst 18th for the 8th grade Washington DC trip.  The cost is $890 per student and $990 per adult.  The trip will be January 3rd through the 8th.  We will start accepting the $250 deposit on August 18th.  Seats are on a first come first serve basis.  We need 48 students/parents to fill bus 1, and 50 students/parents to fill each additional bus. This is an amazing trip that your child will not want to miss.

Volunteer Information

Student and Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Although this school year is over, look for opportunities to volunteer for events over the summer.  Students will be needed to help with the Making the Move to Middle School camp as well as volunteers for the Get Ready for School Day Event on August 8th.  Email Mrs. Casper (or call, she works all summer! 547-8627) at Cynthia.Casper@stjohns.k12.fl.us

VERY IMPORTANT!!! There are 220 students in need of their Tdap Immunization before they receive their schedules at the August 8th, Get Ready for School Day Event
Rising 7th graders can NOT attend class or receive their schedule in August without proof of a Tdap vaccine. This shot must be documented on a DH 680(Florida Shot record)  Please do not wait till the last minute to get this! If you have any questions, please contact Cynthia Casper  at 547-8627 or e-mail me at Cynthia.Casper@stjohns.k12.fl.us  
You can call or e-mail me to determine if we have a record of the shot in the computer. If your student already had the shot but we don't have a record of it, please get a copy from your physician and have your student bring it to the clinic or you can drop it by personally. We will make a copy for you and then Guidance will enter it into the computer.  If you choose to go to a walk in clinic, you must ask the clinic to put your child's Tdap shot on a Florida 680 form. A receipt from the clinic with not be accepted in lieu of the Florida 680 form. If you choose to go to the St. John's County Health Department, they have moved to a new location. Their new address is 200 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine ,Fl. 32084. Their new phone number is (904) 209-3250. Call ahead for their hours and to see if you qualify for their Vaccines for Children Program. Thank you in advance for getting your student ready for 7th grade. You will also be thankful when you do not have to stand in a line to turn this in on the day the students receive their schedules in August.

 

Athletics

NOTICE:

The Saint Johns Middle School Athletic Association ("SJMSAA") middle school sports program is not operated or sponsored by the St. Johns County School District. SJMSAA is an independent, private non-profit corporation, which uses District middle school names and facilities under a license agreement with the District, and which is solely responsible for the operation of the SJMSAA middle school sports program and its individual teams.

CAA Summer Conditioning Camp
Registration for Summer Football and Sports Conditioning Camps is now open!  There will be two camps offered: a 7 week sports conditioning camp and a 7 week football specific conditioning camp.  Each camp will be offered in both a 1 day per week and 2 day per week option at a cost of $105.00 and $210.00 respectively. There is a $10.00 per child family discount. Please see the conditioning website www.creeksconditioning.com under the News tab near the bottom of the page for all details and information.

Access to the building

We have been informed by the district  that ALL parents that plan on entering the building during the day before or after school ,even if students are not in the building, need to be cleared.  We are asking that EVERY parent or guardian that might be on campus for a conference, IEP meeting, 504 meeting or for anything else, PLEASE click on the link below to register for access.

Do you want to Volunteer at Bartram Trail High School?
Do you want to know if your application is still active?
Volunteer Applications are active for 3 years. However, many of us can't remember when we filled them out. That is OK, just email me (Nery DiDeo - BT Volunteer Coordinator) at:  bthsvolcoordinator@gmail.com  I can check your volunteer status as long as you email me your Full Name and Birthdate. Please DO NOT fill out a NEW form if you have already done so at some time with our district. If you have NEVER filled out a Volunteer Form, please go to the Bartram Trail Website and on the bottom right you will find the link to the "School Access" form. You MUST fill out this form and be an approved volunteer in order to volunteer and/or go into our school. It is best to do this before the school year starts because August is a very busy month for Volunteer Applications. Thank you and Welcome to Bear Country, I can't wait to see you and hopefully volunteer with you next year :)

 

BTHS 9th Grade Orientation

Click here to view informational flyer regarding Freshman Link Crew Orientation on Thursday, July 30th from 8-3:30 pm.  Please drop off your child at Bartram Trail between 8:00 - 8:30. They will meet their Link Leaders until 1:00pm. Parents please return at Noon for a "Parent Meeting". After this meeting you will meet up with your child at 1:00 and proceed to "Registration". 

Parents please remember to bring the following documents for Registration:

    (please bring the one you receive from Bartram Trail in the mail)

2. Code of Conduct Acknowledgment Form*

3. Release of Student Directory Information*

*These forms can be found on the Bartram Trail Website on the bottom right under "2015-16 Registration Forms". Please print them out and bring them all filled in. It will speed up your registration time.

Also, please remember to bring your checkbook and/or cash for the following items:

PE Uniforms, PTO Membership, Spirit Wear, PSAT Results. Drinks and light snacks will be available for purchase during the Registration Process.

Beyond the Bell

 

 

 

 

Registration for 2015-2016 school year is open.  Please go to the
Extended Day Tab on the SPMS website for more information.  You will need to read the "Beyond the Bell" Handbook, print and submit required forms, along with the correct Registration Fee for either the monthly or Punch Card option.  Your child's spot in Beyond the Bell (BTB) will be secure when ALL FORMS and 
the Registration Fee have been submitted and you receive a confirmation email.
