Message from Mrs. Kunze

It is hard to believe that there are only 4 days of school remaining. The year has flown by. I know that student are ready for a break, but we still have quarter exams this week.  Please talk to your child about remaining focused for a few more days.  Also, don't forget that we dismiss at 1pm this Thurday, June 4th.

Report cards will not be sent home on Thursday the last day of school, as grades are not due from teachers until Friday, June 5th plus we need Civics EOC scores to finalize Civics grades.  An Alert Now will be sent when report cards are available to be picked up this summer.

In next Friday's Raider Rap, we will post the summer reading and supply lists for next year, along with important dates for the 15-16 school year.

To save money on postage over the summer, we will give current 6th & 7th graders a list of their courses for next year either this Wednesday or Thursday during homeroom.  An Alert Now message will be sent whichever day the information is distributed, so you will know to ask your child for the papers.  If you would like to request a course change, please email Mrs. Kunze at Lisa.Kunze@stjohns.k12.fl.us  The absolute deadline to request a course change is Monday, July 13th, but sooner is always better.  We are hoping to mail course lists to current 5th graders the week of June 8th.

The 8th grade dance Friday night was a success!   A HUGE THANK YOU to committee members Colleen Wood, Michele Collins, Tania DeVito, and teacher, Sharon Rizzuto for planning and organizing the event.  We would also like to thank Michael DiVito and 6th grade mom, Coretta Williams, for assiting with set-up Friday afternoon.

On Friday, June 5th, we will be placing locks on lockers for next year and need 10 or 12 detail-oriented student volunteers who would like to earn volunteer hours.  Students would start at 8am and work until all locks are on the 1350 lockers - probably around noon. Pizza and soda will be provided at noon.  For current 8th graders, these hours can count towards your required hours for FL Bright Futures. Please email Mrs. Casper at Cynthia.Casper@stjohns.k12.fl.us by Wednesday, June 3rd, if your child would like to volunteer.
