Licensed Practical Nurse

VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Rising 7 th graders can NOT attend class or receive their schedule in August without proof of a Tdap vaccine. This shot must be documented on a DH 680(Florida Shot record) Please do not wait till the last minute to get this! If you have any questions, please contact Joan Beccard in the clinic at 547-8628 or e-mail me at Joan.Beccard@stjohns.k12.fl.us
You can call or e-mail me and I will let you know if we have a record of it in the computer. If your student already had the shot but we don't have a record of it please get a copy from your physician and have your student bring it to the clinic or you can drop it by personally. I will make a copy for you and then Guidance will enter it into the computer. If you choose to go to a walk in clinic you must ask the clinic to put your child's Tdap shot on a Florida 680 form. A receipt from the clinic with not be accepted in lieu of the Florida 680 form. If you choose to go to the St. John's County Health Department, they have moved to a new location. Their new address is 200 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine ,Fl. 32084. Their new phone number is (904) 209-3250. Call ahead for their hours and to see if you qualify for their Vaccines for Children Program. Thank you in advance for getting your student ready for 7th grade. You will also be thankful when you do not have to stand in a line to turn this in on the day the students receive their schedules in August.
Changes in Personal Information
Parents, your help is needed. I spend many hours each week calling parents when students are sick, injured, etc. However, I find when I call home numbers I often get a message that says "this number is disconnected." I call work numbers and they say "they have not worked here in 5 years." Then your student says " my parents got new cell numbers but I don't know what they are." Please notify our computer operator, Norma Miller, at 547-8626 for changes in your contact numbers. You can also e-mail

St. Augustine Youth Services to Observe April National Child Abuse Prevention Month
Pinwheel 2nd Annual Parade" March against Child Abuse - April 11th. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and since 1989, people nationwide wear the blue ribbon and carry blue pinwheels in April to create awareness of the need to keep kids safe and families strong.
The "2nd Annual Parade" Pinwheel March against Child Abuse will be on April 11th at the SAYS Hutson Family Campus from 10:00-11:30am. There will be a ceremonial "parade" around the campus, free children's activites, parenting information and people on hand to answer questions about resources available in St. Johns County.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office will land their helicopter (pending weather conditions), Sheriff Explorers will be providing information about the program and passing out fingerprint kits to parents, and two deputies from the Crisis Negotiation Team will be here with their command center.
Also Luli's Cupcakes will bring their mobile cupcake house with cake pops for sale. Beverages and snacks will be provided by SAYS.
"April is a time to celebrate the important role that communities play in protecting children," says Schuyler Siekfer, SAYS Executive Director. "Everyone's participation is critical. Focusing on ways to build and promote the protective factors, in every interaction with children and families, is the best thing our community can do to prevent child maltreatment and promote optimal child development."
School and community groups are welcome to participate. For more information, contact Robin Burchfield at robinb@sayskids.org or 904-829-1770.

Community Partnerships Equal Big Impact for Safer Cycling
Velo Fest Community Initiative, St. Johns County Sheriff Office and St. Johns County Library, with financial support from the Barbara A Kay Foundation and Flagler Hospital, are proud to be bringing back the "Bicycle Rodeo" to St. Johns County. Over the next month, the community will have three events to learn more about bicycle skills, get a free helmet, and maybe a free Popsicle.
Velo Fest Founder Heather Neville, and St. Johns County Deputy Sheriff Tim Robertson, shared the desire to schedule bike rodeos with helmet fittings. This came after the Sheriff's Department was awarded a new bicycle trailer and attended training in December to learn how to properly fit helmets and teach bicycle skills. St. Johns County Librarian Harold George had also been working on creating bike friendly events at the several county community centers. There are now three free to the public events and two elementary school field days all focused on getting families on a bike with the proper skills and equipment thanks to a grant from the Barbara A. Kay Foundation, a large donation from Flagler Hospital, and coordination from Velo Fest Community Initiative. The events will offer nearly 800 free helmets thanks to Flagler Hospital and Velo Fest Community Initiative. Additional partners include St. Augustine Beach Police Department, St. Johns County School Crossing Guards, and St. Johns County Public School.
Local business, Sprockets Bicycle Shop, will be offering quick clinics on the "A.B.C's of bike readiness" The Hyppo Food Truck will be giving a free popsicle to anyone who brings their own helmet from home to be fitted during the April 18 event, "Bikes & Books," at the Southeast Branch Library. The events will consist of helmet fittings and the importance of wearing one, bicycle-handling skill stations, "how to" stations, and general fun. Please see the list of events below and please try to make it out to one of the 3 events. If you would like to volunteer please email director@velofest.org
