It is hard to believe, but it is time for 8th graders to start thinking about high school.  The High School Showcase has been moved to December this year, so it is very important that you mark your calendars with all the dates listed below. 

 

The decisions that have to be made in the next few months regarding high school can be stressful.  Parents and students are encouraged to gather as much information as possible to help make the best decision.  Remember that your child does not have to join an academy.  The academies are in place to enhance the high school experience by providing students exposure to a possible career path.

 

 

Monday & Tuesday, December 1st & 2nd 

Ms. Kirsch, Career Specialist from Bartram Trail HS, will be at Swiss talking to all 8th grade students through their Language Arts class.  She will explain the different academies offered at Bartram Trail HS as well as the academies offered at other high schools.

 

Thursday, December 4th 

6:30pm - HS 101 Night at Swiss Point in the auditorium 

Mrs. Moseley will be talking about high school graduation requirements and how academies fit into the schedule.  Ms. Kirsch, Career Specialist from Bartram, and Mrs. Hensley, Career Specialist from Creekside HS, will be present to help answer questions.

 

Thursday, December 11th 

3-8pm - High School Showcase at World Golf Village Convention Center

Each high school will have tables set up to share information regarding all of their academies.  Academy teachers and students will be available to answer questions.

Online application to apply for academy opens.

 

Academy Nights

Each high school will host an Academy Night.  Parents and students are strongly encouraged to visit the high schools. Remember that transportation is only provided to your zoned high school.

Mon, January 12th - 5:30pm St. Johns Technical High School and 6pm for St. Augustine HS

Tue, January 13th - 6pm - Bartram Trail HS

Wed, January 14th - 6pm - Nease HS

Thu, January 15th - 6pm - Ponte Vedra & Pedro Menendez High Schools

Auditions for School of the Arts

 

Friday, February 6th 

Each high school will mail a letter home to students who were accepted into an academy.  

 

Friday, February 18th

Deadline to accept an invitation to an academy.  Students who receive a letter from a high school MUST go online and accept the academy.
