Messages from Mrs. Kunze
The district interim date is this Wednesday, September 17th. We do not print interims, since all parents have access to grades through HAC. We encourage you to monitor your child's progress throughout each quarter. Teachers will have grades updated in HAC this Wednesday by 3pm. If you are having difficulties logging into HAC, please contact Mrs. Casper, Guidance Secretary, through email or phone - Cynthia.Casper@stjohns.k12.fl.us or 547-8627.
There are about 300 students that have not joined the Swiss Point MS 2014-2015 group on Edmodo. It is important to join this group, so the silver/black rotation and school events are on their Edmodo calendar. The code to join is hek9j2.
Fall Pictures this Thursday & Friday!
Fall student portraits will be taken during the student's social studies class on Thursday, September 18 and Friday, September 19th. Students with social studies on Silver days were given their picture packet yesterday. Students who have social studies on black days will receive their packet on Monday.

Any 8th grader interested in going on the Washington DC trip needs to give Mrs. Kunze the $250 deposit by September 19th. The total cost of the trip is $890. The payment plan is $250 on October 3rd, $250 on October 17th, and $140 on November 7th. Field trip paperwork will be given to those who will be attending at a later date. Everyone's familiar with "Dear Abby" articles in the newspapers. We collect (anonymously) some questions from students during the year pertaining to middle school life in a similar fashion as "Dear Abby". We will call ours "Dear Raider Aide". On some occasions, we have a student give the advice, so this should be fun and a unique learning experience for all! The question below was submitted by an 8
th grade student:
Dear Raider Aide, "Why do we have a 'Skinny' class?" Great question! As we were setting up our school's class schedules, we were bound by the number of minutes per day that middle school students attend school. As you know, you have the "Skinny" (which is only 50 minutes long), along with three approximately 90 minute classes (periods 2, 3, and 4) during the day. (Of course, Wednesday classes are all cut short because it is an early release day.) So we do not have time during the school day to have four (approximately) 90 minute classes. But, because you go to your "Skinny" class every single day, the minutes are evened out by the end of the week.
