Messages from Mrs. Kunze

Thank you to everyone who attended Open House this past week. We truly appreciate your support!

There is information regarding a bus stop change in the student corner section that affects Aberdeen and Durbin Crossing South.

I am leaving the Florida Standards Assessment link in again this week.  If you have not had time to take the language arts and math practice test for your child's grade level, please do so.

New Florida Standards Assessment

In the spring your child will take the new Florida Standards Assessment, which will measure their knowledge of the Florida Standards in Reading and Math.  The assessment is quite different than the FCAT 2.0 as it is not all multiple choice.  I encourage you to take the practice tests.  Please open the link below in Chrome or FireFox.

Link to New Florida Standards Practice Tests

Click on Students and Parents and then Training Tests.

Click on Take the Training Tests - at the sign in box click sign in (you don't have to enter anything). On the next screen select a grade level and YES.  Select the test and begin.  You must select an answer to the question or you can not click next to move to the next question.

Picture Day Coming Soon

Fall student portraits will be taken during the student's social studies class on Thursday, September 18 and Friday, September 19th.

Washington DC Trip

Any 8th grader interested in going on the Washington DC trip needs to give Mrs. Kunze the $250 deposit by September 19th. The total cost of the trip is $890.  The payment plan is $250 on October 3rd, $250 on October 17th, and $140 on November 7th. Field trip paperwork will be given to those who will be attending at a later date.  There is a link to a PowerPoint on the front page and parent page of the SPMS website with trip information.
