6th grade camp
Tuesday, August 5th & Wednesday, August 6th
7:30am to 2pm each day
Snack & lunch are provided.
We have 300 students registered to attend our 6th grade camp. This is the largest number ever!! Unfortunately, we are full and can not accept anyone else.
Drop-off
Parent drop-off will be in the BACK of the school using the bus loop starting at 7am. Please turn onto Hickory Creek Trail (to the right of Swiss Point) and then turn left into the 1st gate. This is the bus loop. When you reach the loop at the end there will be adults present to give you a pick-up number. We will write the number on your child's hand, which will make dismissal run smoother. If you are car pooling and will not be the parent picking up, please give the pick-up person the number.
We ask that you do NOT park and walk your child into the building. We promise to take good care of them!
If you have medication to give to the nurse, PLEASE park in the front of the school and enter through the main entrance to the office. Mrs. Beccard, our nurse, will be happy to assist you.
Snack & Lunch
Snack consists of a bag of chips and a fruit flavored drink.
Lunch will be 2 slices of cheese or pepperoni pizza, a package of cookies and a bottled water.
Students will be given a freeze pop at the end of the day.
What do students need to bring?
Students need to bring a change of clothes, so they can dress out for our afternoon time in the gym. This is very important! We have found that one of the biggest anxieties of 6th graders is changing clothes in front of others. They need to practice during camp, so they realize it is not so bad.
On the first day, we will give students their schedule and locker information, but we will keep it at the end of the day. We will return the schedule and locker information on the second day and then they will bring it home. On the second day, your child might want something to put this information in, if you think he/she will lose it.
On the second day, students may bring items to put in their locker, if they wish. Absolutely, NO stickers or tape are allowed in the lockers. Everything must be magnetic. Locker shelves work well for those who like to be organized.
What will students be doing?
Students will be given a "camp schedule" to follow. They can not follow their real school schedule, because not all teachers work the camp. Students will have a "home base" that will be like their homeroom and then will travel to 3 different classes each day. During each class, students will learn about different aspects of Swiss Point and play an ice breaker to meet new people. Remember that the goal is to meet new people, since there are students from Timberlin, Hickory, Cunningham & all of over the US here, AND to feel more comfortable about starting middle school.
Pick-up
We will start dismissing students at 2pm. PLEASE do not park and walk in. We will use the BACK bus loop to pickup. The line will be long, so PLEASE be patient. When you reach the adult in our loop, you will give them the number you were given in the morning. We will call for all students with that number to exit the building farther down the loop.
If you have any additional questions, please call Mrs. Casper, guidance secretary, at 547-8627.
THANK YOU!!!
