Color Us Crazy!
The students have spoken. Right before spring break, our students voted on the name of our first ever color run, and the winner is:
Color Us Crazy! Come for the Run, Stay for the Fun! on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Swiss Point.
Registration forms will go home next week with all the details, but here's a preview: a color run (runners wear white t-shirts provided with registration, and run through clouds of cornstarch color. By the end of the run, they've colored themselves crazy!) where students & families can run as much, or as little, as they want followed by bounce houses, obstacle courses, food, fun, and music.
This is going to be a great night for the whole family so plan on joining us as we turn SPMS into a colorful party!

Seaton's Corner
Cunningham Creek Elementary is having their Spring Fling on Friday, April 11th from 4-7:00 p.m. They are in need of approximately 40 volunteers for 3 different shifts. If you or your middle or high school children would like to volunteer, please email Mary Davidson (CCE PTO) at cceptomail@gmail.com. Volunteers will receive a free slice of pizza at the end of their shift. If your student has an official hours volunteer sheet that needs to be signed, they will also take care of that at the end of their shift. Any help is much appreciated!
Moseley's Food for Thought
As we begin the last quarter of this school year, here are some useful tips to help your child do well:
- Make sure your child has a study/homework space that is quiet and free from distractions.
- Teach your child to be organized; don't assume they know how!
- Stay on top of your child's schoolwork; make sure your child is checking Edmodo for class information and HAC to see their progress.
- Stay informed about school activities and procedures; read the Raider Rap, like you are now!

Student's Health Issues
If your student is diagnosed with Conjunctivitis(pink eye) they may return 24 hours after the treatment has begun. If your health care provider decides not to treat your student, a note from the health care provider is needed.
Current 6th grade parents! NEVER TOO EARLY!
It is never too early to get your child their Tdap shot, 7th grade immunization requirement. As soon as they have their 11th birthday they can get their Tdap shot. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call me. This school year we had 108 students that did not have their Tdap two weeks before school was to start! Please don't wait till the last minute! This shot must be documented on a Florida Certification of Immunization.

Policy Reminders
|
New Charging Policy in the Cafeteria
Student are encouraged to ask about their account balance, but are told verbally of a low or negative status of their account. Absolutely no ala cart items can be charged. Students who do not have the required payment will be allowed to charge up to two meals (5.20). The charge will appear on the point of sale system.
If a student has an outstanding charge and does not have the required payment after two meals have been charged, the student will be served a cheese sandwich and a milk without prior notice.
If a student has an outstanding charge and has been provided a sandwich and milk after five instances, the student will not be provided any further meals without payment.
Use of the online payments system is recommended to alleviate any problems with student not turning in lunch money. This program gives you access to monitor what your child is purchasing and their account balance. The website is www.paypams.com
Cell Phones
On page 23 of the St. Johns County Student Code of Conduct there is an entire section on cell phones. Paragraph 1 states: Students may possess cellular telephones and other wireless communication devices at school, on buses, and at school function. However, they must be turned off, stored in student's backpack, purse, locker or vehicle. The device shall not be used during the school day without administrative approval or on school buses to and from school. Failure to comply may result in the device being confiscated. Repeated failure to comply will be considered defiance of school rules. Paragraph 3 states: When there is reasonable suspicion that a student has used a cell phone or wireless communicative device in violation of the Code of Conduct or other school rules, or for an unlawful purpose, the school administration may review the phone's call log, voice messages, text messages, photographs and any other applications to furtherance of its investigation of the suspected violation.
We have communicated this district policy to the students every quarter in our behavior expectation assemblies. We have communicated that their cell phone may not be used on campus at all, which includes in the hall or outside at dismissal or upon arrival to school. We will no longer ask a child to just put their cell phone away. The phone will be confiscated. Students who are not feeling well need to go to the clinic to call their parent not call or send a text from their cell phone. PLEASE talk to your child about following school rules. We have a phone in the main office that students are allowed to use. Thank you for your support.
Do you have a New Cell or Home Phone Number....maybe new email address? Parents, if you have a new home number, work number, cell number or e-mail address, please notify Norma Miller in Guidance. Contact her at 547-8626 or
millern@stjohns.k12.fl.us
