Message from Mrs. Kunze
Thursday's Guest Speaker - Marc Mero
A HUGE THANK YOU to Custom Interiors and Renovations, Inc. - owners Mike Besner and Rick Besner - for paying for motivational speaker, Marc Mero, to visit Swiss Point. The former WWE wrestler discussed many topics relevant to middle school students. We truly appreciate the generosity of the Besner family!

Fall Drama Production
We will have our first drama production of the year, The Crawdaddy Lake Murder Mystery, this week. Performances are Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 7pm. There is limited seating, so you will want to arrive early to ensure a seat. Tickets are $5.
Trick or Treat for UNICEF
The Trick or Treat for UNICEF boxes have arrived! Every day, somewhere in the world, UNICEF is saving and improving children's lives. Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF helps provide kids in need with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more! Last year our school raised over $800! This year, our goal is $1000!
All homeroom teachers will receive theTrick-or-Treat for UNICEF boxes to be handed out to students on Monday, October 28. To achieve our fundraising goal, fundraising goals will be set for each class. The attachment, What Your Money Can Buy is a great handout that explains how UNICEF helps keep the world's children alive and healthy. For example, a $35 donation can purchase vaccines to protect 50 kids from killer diseases!
The UNICEF boxes (money) will be collected on Monday, November 4th.
Second Harvest Food Drive
The first week in November Student Council will start our annual food drive to support the Second Harvest Food Bank. The grade levels compete for the most food donated by weight and then we compete with the other middle schools for a trophy. Start collecting those heavy items now!

Guidance Counselors
Barbara Seaton-6th grade and 7th graders with last names beginning with A-J.
Tanya Moseley- 7th graders, last name ending in K-Z and the entire 8th grade.
Moseley's Food for Thought
As we conclude Red Ribbon Week I wanted to share some drug prevention information that was given to our students this past week:
* The number one drug abused by teenagers is alcohol.
* Nicotine is the strongest addictive drug in the world - it's more addictive than heroin and cocaine.
* Trying inhalants can kill you the first time - it's called Sudden Sniffing Death.
Seaton's Corner
As middle school parents, you may sometimes wonder, "What is going on with my child?" They can seem happy one day, and then suddenly their whole world seems to be turned upside down. Welcome to the "Tween Years"! They are caught in the middle between being a child and a teenager. What's a parent to do? During these years, it's important that parents show patience and encouragement. They need your help to keep their problems in perspective, and don't forget your sense of humor! These are wonderful years where you'll witness your child going through many changes before the high school years.
