Prayer Requests

Mrs. Hunter, 8th grade science teacher, had a baby boy Monday morning - Blake Edwards Hunter.  Baby Blake had a heart murmur, which is common in premature babies.  On Tuesday morning the heart murmur was still present, so an echo was ordered.  Baby Blake was diagnosed with Truncus Arteriosus type 1 and is currently in the NICU at Wolfson's. Truncus Arteriosus means he has 1 large artery instead of 2 separate ones to carry blood to the lungs and body.  This requires surgery to repair and additional surgeries throughout his life to maintain/upgrade the new path that will be created as he grows.  Baby Blake will have his first surgery this week. PLEASE keep him, mom, Angela, and dad, Jody, in your prayers.

As many of you know, there was a horrible wreck Wednesday involving students from Bartram Tail High School.  Aubrey Thompson, former Swiss Point student, is in critical condition. PLEASE keep him and his family in your prayers!

Edmodo Update

Remember that the parent view of Edmodo is very different from the student view.  You may want to use your child's account.

As we continue to use this program if you have suggestions on how we could make things better, please email me.

Moseley's Food for Thought

Next week is Red Ribbon Week when we promote drug prevention, so I thought I'd share some statistics on teenagers and drug use. Did you know...

  • 25% of all alcohol consumed in the U.S. is consumed by those under the age of 21.
  • Children of smokers are at a higher risk of becoming smokers themselves.
  • 1 out of 3 people who use marijuana become addicted.
  • Middle school students (ages 12-14) account for the age group that uses inhalants the most.
  •

Character Counts luncheon - a huge success!

We had 71 students who received Character Counts Awards from teacher nominations on Thursday! How awesome! A HUGE shout out to Mrs. Colleen Wood, the PTSO president for securing Zaxby's lunches for each of these students! Wow! What a treat! The students were so excited, not just for the awards they received from their teacher but for a really 'cool' lunch! The other students in the cafeteria were quite envious! Congratulations to these 71 students for their exemplary character! Thank you again PTSO!

HEAL (Healing Every Autistic Life) and JCP Cares will be hosting a Fall Celebration on Sunday, October 27 from 1-3 at Plantation Park in Julington Creek Plantation.  Click here to view flyer.  For the kids, there will be a bounce house, pumpkin painting, games (such as boo bowling, a skeleton bone hunt, bean bag toss and more), a storytime blanket and a Lego corner. There will be information about resources available for Mom and Dad. (Bottled water will be available but no food or candy will be served at this event so you might want to bring your own snacks.) A big thank you to Publix for donating the pumpkins and bottled water.

We are also looking for students who want to volunteer to help out with this event. It would be a great opportunity for those needing service hours.
