THANK YOU to the couple of moms who told me that we had a typo on the school ID for ordering supplies.

 

The ID is SWI008 - after the W is an "I" as in identity not a one.

 

I have also received emails that the rising 6th graders can not view their courses for next year.  After talking to the District's IT Department Thursday, we thought everyone would be able to view courses.  I will call them first thing Monday morning to figure this out.  If rising 6th graders can't view, then we will mail this information Monday, so you have it in time to order supplies. 

 

I have also received a couple of emails about rising 7th graders not placed in Algebra I Honors.  I should have explained this on the Raider Rap as well.  

 

The district criteria for taking Algebra I Honors in 7th grade is a 5 on the FCAT Math, As in the course and an 80% on the Algebra placement test that Math 1 Advanced students took at the end of the year.

 

Students that meet all the requirements except the placement score will take Algebra 1 Honors as an 8th grader.  These students are still on an advanced track and will take the following courses in high school.

  9th - Geometry Honors

10th - Algebra 2 Honors

11th - PreCalculus 

12th - AP Calculus AB or AP Statistics or Dual Enrollment

 

If the goal is take both AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC OR AP Calculus AB and AP Statistics in high school, then students can always double up in their math freshman year and take Geometry Honors and Algebra 2 Honors concurrently.
