Message from Mrs. Kunze
Swiss Point's 1st Annual A Night of the Arts
Thank you to all who braved the rain to attend our 1st Annual A Night of the Arts. The event was organized by Julie Pantano and Andrew Wilson, who wanted to celebrate all the creative outlets of our students. They did an amazing job as the event was a huge success.
Swiss Point's 3rd Annual Spring Fling
Although the weather did not cooperate, Spring Fling was a success. The students enjoyed the entertainment during lunches from their fellow classmates in the auditorium. Hopefully next year the weather will be nicer and the students can enjoy the outdoors. There were many students disappointed that snowcones were not sold today during Spring Fling. Due to the rain, we could not use the outside patio. We will sell snowcones for Raider Bucks one day next week.

Requirements for 7th Grade
Currently there are 147 students that have turned in their shot records to be in compliance for 7th grade. Approximately 280 are still needed. Please continue to send them to the clinic. Rising 7th graders can NOT attend classes or receive their schedule in August without proof of Tdap vaccine! This shot must be documented on a DH 680(Florida shot record) Check with your physician to see if your student has already had the shot and have them document the Tdap along with your student's other immunizations on a DH 680(Florida shot record).
If you choose to go to a walk in clinic you must ask the clinic to print you out a hard copy of the 680 shot record which shows the Tdap your child received. A receipt from the clinic will not be accepted! If you choose to go to the St. Johns County Health Department (825-5055) please call ahead to see if you qualify for their Vaccines for Children Program.

Recommended Fiction Book:
90 Miles to Havana by Enrique Flores-Galbis - a SSYRA nominated book
"Drawing on his own experience as a child refugee from Cuba, Flores-Galbis offers a gripping historical novel about children who were evacuated from Cuba to the U.S. during Operation Pedro Pan in 1961. This is a seldom-told refugee story that will move readers with the themes of betrayal and kindness."-Booklist (starred review)
"Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body."

Famous artists, cultural history, art history, and different artistic styles are studied and practiced. Sign up for one workshop, or sign up for them all...you choose! Classes are held at the River of Life United Methodist Church at 2600 Race Track Road Jacksonville, FL 32259 (just South of Julington Creek Elem) every other Friday night. Visit our website www.simpson.kidzart.com to view our complete schedule and to register or call our office (904)287-8603. Registration is required to attend.
