Bartram Trail High School's ITS Troupe #6174 WINS BIG at the District Competitions!!
BTHS presented "Salamander Stew" written by Michael Fixel. The performance stars an ensemble cast including seniors Brandon Mayes, Lindsey Coates, Jon Oliver, Allison Lewis, Rachele Rees; juniors Tanner Folds, Abby Nehring, J.D. Rees, Lainey Edens, Olivia Crews; and sophomore Lizzie May. Senior Holly Skinner is stage managers and the technical crew includes seniors Ari Rivera, Leiloni Lewis, Taylor Donato, and sophomore Brett Belcher. The performance was directed by Ava Fixel. The production was one of three selected to advance on to the state level to be held in Tampa, FL in March. (Please see publicity photo attached.) Bartram is the only high school in ITS's District 2 to win the One Act competition three years in a row!!
On December 10th, BTHS theater students competed in over 40 events of the International Thespian Society's "IE" (Individual Events) held at Ponte Vedra High School. The students competed in 10 different categories - Monologues, Duet Acting, Ensemble Acting, Costume Design, Solo Musical, Duet Musical, Group Musical, Playwriting, Pantomime, and Directing/Publicity. 16 of Bartram's events received the highest possible score awarded -- a "Superior"! Another 14 events received scores of "Excellent" and the remaining events received a "Good" award. Each student may only compete in 3 events. Several students received special recognitions with nominations as "Judge's Choice" for best performance in their category with Brett Belcher receiving a "Judge's Choice" award for his contrasting monologues performance and Jordan Alexander receiving a "Judge's Choice" award for her costume design entry. BTHS's Theater director, Mrs. Ava Fixel, will have the difficult task of choosing only 5 of the Superior acts to advance on to the State level in March.
All the entries receiving a "Superior" and "Salamander Stew" will presented again at the "WINTER SHOWCASE" on Thursday, January 26th at 7pm.
