Algebra 1 EOC 

The state Algebra 1 EOC will be administered state wide next week.  Our students will test Tuesday through Friday.  Students have been given their assigned testing date and computer lab.  On their testing date, they need to check in with their homeroom teacher and then go to the computer lab.  Please ensure that your child is well rested and has eaten breakfast.  This exam will count as 30% of their final Algebra 1 Honors grade.

 

High School Musical 

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Edwards and the cast & crew of High School Musical!  The students did an amazing job.  The show is upbeat and loads of fun.  Don't miss the final performance tomorrow, Saturday, at 2pm in the auditorium.  Adult tickets are $10 & students are $5. 

 

Faculty Show - Mark Your Calendar

The faculty will produce a "talent" show on Tuesday, May 24th at 6:30pm in our auditorium.  More info later, but you will not want to miss out on all the fun!

 

Bus Routes

The bus routes for the 2011-2012 school year have been approved and are posted on the district website.  Postcards will be mailed home in July again this year.

  

Coke Rewards

Our school has joined the My Coke Rewards for Schools program.  That means by drinking the Coca-Cola products your family already enjoys, you can get My Coke Rewards points and donate them to our school. 

 

It's easy to donate:

1.  Purchase your favorite Coca-Cola products to get codes.

2.  Go to mycokerewards.com  (register if you aren't a member).

3.  Enter codes to collect points - choose "Donate to Your School" from the six ways to spend points.

 4.  Find our school by zip code (32259).  When our school's page comes up, click enter the amount of points you'd like to give, then click "Donate."

 

8th grade information

8th grade awards will be held in Bartram Trail High School's Auditorium this year on Monday, June 6th at 10am.  The program should last approximately one hour.  We will transport all of the 8th graders there on school buses.  We will mail a letter home soon to the parents of any student receiving an award.

 

The 8th grade dance will be at World Golf Village the same night, Monday, June 6th, from 6-9pm.  Tickets will be on sale May 23rd to 27th for $25 each.

If a student receive ISD or OSS before their field trip, he/she will not abe allowed to attend.  The cost of the trip is non-refundable.  This was on every field trip form that was sent home.  PLEASE talk to your child about their behavior the last few weeks of school.

Volunteer Information

 

Field Trip Season Approaching

 

Chaperones need to have an approved volunteer application on file with the district before they can leave on a field trip.  The process to apply and approve an application can take up to 6 weeks.  Please make sure that if you plan on being a chaperone, that you have an approved volunteer application on file.  You may go to the district website at www.stjohns.k12.fl.us and choose the link "Volunteer in Our Schools" on the left side of the home page.

DDT21 T-Shirt Contest:

 70.7% of St. Johns County middle school students and 35.2% of high school students have NOT consumed alcohol in the past 30 days according to the 2010 Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey (FYSAS). Our youth group, Don't Drink 'Til 21 (DDT21), is looking for a catchy, interesting and fun t-shirt design to highlight how many students in our community don't drink alcohol. If you are a middle or high school student that lives in St. Johns County send us your awesome design. A flyer with contest rules is attached.

Know The Law:

Be on the lookout for "Know the Law" books. This book was produced by PACT Prevention Coalition, St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, St. Johns County School District, The State Attorney's Office and several valued sponsors. The book highlights many commonly broken laws and the consequences resulting from an arrest. Please let us know if you would like hard copies or a digital link for your website. Thank you to everyone who donated their resources to make this available to St. Johns County families!

 

-DEA Prescription Drug take back:

St. Augustine Beach Police Department and City of St. Augustine Police department participated in the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) national prescription take back initiative recently. Thank you to all agencies who provided the service and all citizens who took the time to drop off their expired or unwanted medications. This will help keep these dangerous drugs out of the hands of youth an adults who may abuse them.

 

 -PACT Regional Prevention Councils (RPCs) Need Your Help:

RPCs meet in five different areas around the county (Northeast, Northwest, Central, Southeast and Southwest) in order to assess youth substance abuse in those areas and implement strategies to change youth usage rates. We need diverse groups of community members at the table in order to accurately assess the community. You are welcome to join us at any time. BTHS Dance Team Tryout Information Meeting

 

The BTHS Dance Team Tryout Information meeting will be Tuesday, May 24th at 6:30 pm in Room N126 at Bartram Trail High School.  Tryouts will be held the week of May 31st.  Packets are available in the front office of BT.  Any questions, email Natalie Chastain at chastan@stjohns.k12.fl.us.

Students that reach 7 demerits will be suspended out of school for one day. 

 

Eating on the Patio

Students may pay 2 Raider Bucks to sit on the patio during lunch.  The "Free Patio Pass" may also be used.

SPMS BASKETBALL CAMP

 

Switzerland Point Middle School will be hosting its Annual Summer Basketball Camp for boys & girls ages 6 - 14. The camp will have three one - week sessions June 13-16, June 27-30, and August 1-4. This is a fun filled camp where "Teaching Never Stops". Don't be left out of this year's camp because the camp fills up fast. Project SOS Summer Camp

 

Project SOS will be having summer camp again this year; but wait the news gets even better!!! This year the students will have two weeks to choose from, June 20-24 or July 18-22. What's even better, is that our camps this year will be held at Adventure Landing. The camps are open to all students between the ages of 12 and 18. Students need to get their applications in ASAP; the response is sure to be great, however, applications will be accepted through June 10th, 2011, and we will only be accepting the first 50 applicants.

The Children's Museum of St. Johns Hosts Fourth Annual Kids Triathlon

 

In partnership with the St. Johns County Parks & Recreation and the YMCA of Florida's First Coast, CMSJ invites you to participate in this fun and challenging event at the phenomenal Solomon Calhoun Center in West St. Augustine. Construction work on the roads and sidewalks is complete and our race course is ready!

 

Since 2008, the annual Just TRI It! A Kids Triathlon has been CMSJ's signature event, raising funds and awareness about the importance of exercise and good nutrition for kids. This non-competitive race for kids ages 5-12 awards medals to all participants, no matter their finishing times. Children ages 4 and under are invited to race in a 25-yard Tot Trot and 50-yard Fun Run after the triathlon at 10 a.m. $5 suggested donation for Tot Trot and Fun Run.

ENTRY FEE: $20 early registration fee ($10 each additional child), payable to the Children's Museum of St. Johns (CMSJ). The fee covers the cost of tee shirts, medals and other event materials. After May 1, registration fee increases to $30. Financial aid is available; please contact CMSJ for more information.  

 

Training clinic to be held Sunday, May 1, 2011, 2 - 5 p.m.
