Unclaimed Property Reporting: Are You Up to Date?

There is no question the delivery of health care is a complicated business. From insurance fee negotiations to changes in payment models, the amount of information tracking and oversight is mind numbing. Combined with regulatory requirements, sales and use tax and other provider fees imposed by states place a heavy burden on health care providers. With all of these challenging issues, is it possible you have not kept up with your unclaimed property filing requirements?

 

What is unclaimed property?
Unclaimed property is basically an intangible financial asset that has been abandoned or unclaimed by the rightful owner for a specific period of time. Depending on the state, there can be more than 100 different categories of unclaimed property. Historically, two of the more common examples are payroll checks and customer credit memorandums.
