New IRS Publication on Affordable Care Act

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) assigned the duty of enforcing certain ACA compliance issues with the Internal Revenue Service.

To help taxpayers find out what's new with the ACA for 2014, and how the ACA will affect their taxes, the IRS has released Publication 5187, Health Care Law: What's New for Individuals and Families.

The publication provides information for taxpayers who:

  • Had, or did not have, health insurance.

  • Purchased health insurance from the Marketplace.

  • Might be eligible for credits or exemption.

The publication also provides a glossary of terms related to the ACA and information for new reporting lines that will be on the 2014 Individual Income Tax Reporting Form 1040-A and 1040-EZ.
