Tax Reform Act of 2014: What Non-Profits Should Know

Tax-exempt organizations are not exempt from tax reform; instead, the sector may be heavily impacted by the proposed tax reform changes released by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp on February 26, 2014. The draft legislation is not expected to be voted on in 2014, but tax-exempt organizations should be aware of the issues being discussed in D.C. and identify the potential impact on their organizations. The proposed changes would be effective for taxable years beginning after December 31, 2014, unless noted otherwise.

Creating Value With Data

In a sports game, it does not do any good to wait to gather all the statistical data at the end of a period to find out who won. A scoreboard that displays critical data in real-time is needed. This tells the coaches and players in what areas they need to improve, where they are in the game, if they're behind or ahead, their accuracy, consistency and more. That way, they can react in real-time to make immediate and effective changes to the game.

Businesses also need real-time feedback to determine performance, anticipate and predict opportunities for improvement and help change decisions that can impact short-term and long-term outcomes.
