December Newsletter 2012
Greetings, friends! Peace be unto you as Christmas draws near. It seems as though the thought of peace at Christmas time is unrealistic for some with so many things occupying their minds and their time, but it is within your grasp. The One for whom this holiday exists is able to lift your heavy burdens and bring peace to your soul (Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls). Try to focus on the things that really  matter and forget the rest (Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things). It always helps to count your blessings, too. The positives always out number the negatives! Always!
We wish you a happy and blessed Christmas!

hand washing

The holidays are a time for relaxation, enjoyment and celebration with family and friends. However, they are also unfortunately a common time of year for respiratory virus infections and this year, with pandemic H1N1 influenza, infections may be even more common. Here are some tips to stay healthy and prevent infection over the holiday season.

  • Wash your hands frequently. Hand washing is one of the most important things you can do to avoid infections and stay healthy. Wash your hands with soap and water (for at least 20 seconds) or with alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Get vaccinated. If you have not already been vaccinated against the flu now is the time. Getting vaccinated is the single best way to prevent influenza infection. While you are at it, check to make sure you are up to date on all your immunizations.

Caring For Your Teeth This Season

Choc cake

The winter holidays are known for sweet treats and tempting goodies, but that doesn't mean that you have to end up at the dentist with cavities in January.

How do sweet foods and drinks cause cavities?

When you eat sugary foods or drinks, naturally occurring bacteria in the mouth feed on the sugar and create acids as a by-product. These acids then wear down the tooth enamel, making it weaker and more susceptible to tooth decay as well as a host of other problems, including gingivitis.

Snacking on sweets throughout the day or during an extended period of time (such as at a holiday party) is especially harmful, since damaging acids form in the mouth every time you eat a sugary snack and continue to affect the teeth for at least 20 minutes afterwards.

Helpful Info About How Our Clinic Works

logo 2We are proud of the services we provide for our patients. We value your time and respect your individual circumstances. We make every effort to treat each patient with the respect he or she deserves.

Good relationships start with good communication!  All relationships are give and take, and all interaction requires the focus and attention of both parties.  In order to foster a great Patient/Doctor relationship, it is important to communicate what we desire to provide, as well as what we hope to receive from you, as the patient.

Our Promise

As a clinic, we are constantly attending continued education conferences, learning the latest methods, materials and medicines, so we can be better equipped to serve our patients. We promise to keep our wait times low and maintain the highest level of service to the best of our ability, by following strict scheduling guidelines and adhering to ethical standards of care. It is our desire to build trust and patient confidence, while striving to see that each person is treated with equal respect and concern.

The exchange

We expect our patients to arrive on time. If a patient is more than 5 minutes late, we will move them to the next available appointment slot. If there is not a time slot available that is convenient for both the patient and the clinic, we will work to find a suitable appointment on another day. This is to ensure that we do not delay the appointments of those who were able to arrive on time.

Holiday Safety
electrical safety

Decorating homes and businesses is a long-standing tradition around the holiday season. Unfortunately, these same decorations may increase your chances of fire. Based on data from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), an estimated 240 home fires involving Christmas trees and another 150 home fires involving holiday lights and other decorative lighting occur each year. Together, these fires result in 21 deaths and $25.2 million in direct property damage.

Following a few simple fire safety tips can keep electric lights, candles, and the ever popular Christmas tree from creating a tragedy. Learn how to prevent a fire and what to do in case a fire starts in your home. Make sure all exits are accessible and not blocked by decorations or trees. Help ensure that you have a fire safe holiday season.
