Get out of the way and let kids play

Earlier this month, the 2015 ParticipACTION Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth was released.  The Report Card assigned a "D-" grade for overall physical activity for kids in Canada. For the first time, the Report Card takes a stand on Active Outdoor Play. The biggest risk is keeping kids indoors.

It's time to pop the bubble wrap on active outdoor play:

School Travel Planning this year in Saskatchewan

This was an exciting school year for School Travel Planning. Nine new  schools signed up for year one and the action continues with our original five schools. Congratulations!

We launched a successful walk to school challenge last fall and engaged partners, schools and committees who've taken part in surveys, school walkabouts, and worked on projects like:

  • installing bike racks
  • designing traffic calming signs
  • implementing designated routes
  • hosting walk to school events

It's been a good learning experience for all and we're are excited for more action next year!
