Take Action

We all have a role to play to get kids moving more and spending time in nature is great place to start. This May, our friends at David Suzuki Foundation are asking everyone to pledge to spend 30 minutes in nature every day for 30 days in the 30 x 30 Nature Challenge.

We think this is a fantastic idea and encourage you and families you know to take part! While you're out and about take stock of the opportunities in your community.  Are there places and spaces for kids to be active in nature?

Why

Most of us spend too much time indoors in front of screens. In fact, our kids average more than seven hours of screen time a day. Studies show that time outdoors, especially unstructured time in nature, can increase curiosity, creativity and problem solving ability in kids. It also improves their physical fitness and coordination.  It's time to head outdoors to enjoy some active fun!

Kids today spend less time outdoors than any generation in human history. Our kids average more than seven hours of screen time a day and less than an hour outdoors.
