Chamber members had an opportunity to see the new Gulf Aventure Center Zipline attraction up-close at last week's Business After Hours. Above, a festive crowd enjoys great networking, food and beverages. Rep. Steve McMillan Receives Lawmaker of The Year From Independent Insurance Agents Association
The Alabama Independent Insurance Agents Association proudly named Representative Steve McMillan as the 2013 Lawmaker of the Year at the Legislative Conference held March 14, 2013, at Embassy Suites in Montgomery.
Rep. McMillan, who represents the 95th district in lower Baldwin County, was presented with a plaque of honor by Carl Schneider of Schneider Insurance in Mobile during the board of directors meeting. Carl noted that Rep. McMillan has been a true champion in helping the insurance markets along the coast. He fully supports any endeavors to make insurance more available and more affordable in coastal counties. As a successful real estate professional in Baldwin County, Rep. McMillan has a unique understanding of the challenges and seeks to do his part to assist homeowners. Rep. McMillan is a Republican who helped push the important Fraud Bill during several legislative sessions.

KICK YOUR SHOES OFF! BRING 'EM TO THE CHAMBER!
Soles4Souls' is a non-profit organization that has distributed over 17 million pairs of shoes to people in need over 128 counties on 5 continents, including the U.S., Honduras, Guatemala, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Uganda, Iraq, Peru, Thailand, and Nepal. It's estimated that 1.5 billion pairs of shoes lay idle in American closets - many of which can be saved from landfills by sending them to Soles4Souls. Souls4Soles facilitates the distribution of shoes, which are used to aid the hurting worldwide.
The Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber will serve a drop off location for Soles4Souls until the end of April. If you have shoes that go unused in your house please donate them to wonderful cause. All types of shoes are accepted! They are also excepting clothes, all types are accepted. If you can't seem to make it to the Chamber but would like to donate items please contact Renee Jones at renee@bridgeslaw.org
