Indigenous Traditions of the Sacred

 

 

 

Explore the landscapes that form the Indigenous cultures of North America. From the booming economies of the Great Lakes, buffalo hunters of the Plains tribes and the Western coastal cultures to the shamanic cultures of the far north and boreal forests.  Learn the meaning of what is sacred to Indigenous peoples, including the issue of cultural appropriation.

Required Readings:

Leta Houle is Plains Cree from the Sturgeon Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan. Her Master's degree is in Religious Studies - Indigenous Traditions, and she is currently completing her Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology. Houle is the expert in the field of Indigenous Sacred Traditions in Canada. Leta is also a somatic trauma therapist, and Traditional Healer/Shamanic practitioner.
