From The Director

It never fails. As another semester drew to a close I found myself in possession of new tools for thinking and sharing, One day recently I looked at an old book and suddenly saw it with new eyes, "getting it" for the first time (I still think the author is one egg short of a dozen, but now I know where he is coming from).

How do I adequately thank everyone who is a part of making these regular epiphanies happen? My end of one semester and beginning of another is a nexus of many people - teachers, other students in my classes, the authors who have revealed their own wisdom in the texts we study, the tireless CHS staff who make sure all runs smoothly in the background, the board who wrestle with larger questions about our organization, our donors who believe in the CHS phenomenon enough to invest in our future.

Last week marked my five-year anniversary as director, a position I accepted with some trepidation in 2008. Like the earth herself, CHS has seen many cycles since that time; so have I, for that matter. We've known times of great joy and satisfaction, and some which were confusing and painful. CHS is an ever-creating entity possessing deep potentialities. The potential does not unfold of its own accord, however. At any point of our group life you will see those many connections mentioned above, and probably many more of which I am unaware.

You are a vital point in the CHS constellation, connecting us with all the richness and potential of your own life, and those connected to you. Thank you for being part of this great adventure. Never doubt that your input, participation, contribution or idea could be the tipping point, bringing us closer to the dream which is our future.

Master of Divinity in Chaplaincy

As of the Spring Semester 2013, Cherry Hill Seminary has added a new MDiv, Chaplaincy, program to the curriculum.  Contemporary chaplaincy is an interfaith ministry in a specialized setting and provides the opportunity for a career of essential and rewarding service in the greater faith communities.

The MDiv Chaplaincy falls under the Department of Pastoral Counseling and Chaplaincy  and is a comprehensive course of study designed to prepare the student to enter the chaplaincy in a variety of professional environments.   Chaplains serve in both the public and private sectors, including hospitals, corrections, fire, police, military and other public agencies, and in corporate settings as well. Cherry Hill Seminary has a number of current and former chaplains on faculty to help the student his or her own focus in this challenging ministry.
