New report suggests prescribed fire benefits outweigh short-term carbon costs
A new report suggests forest and grassland ecosystems can become more resilient to climate change effects, and carbon stocks can be protected from severe wildfires by carefully planned controlled burning. "The Merits of Prescribed Fire Outweigh Potential Carbon Emission Effects" was released on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 by scientists from the Association for Fire Ecology, the International Association of Wildland Fire, the Tall Timbers Research Station, and The Nature Conservancy.Download report here. |
