Volv Construction Golf Tournament

Dr. Temple Grandin in Riverside

The country's leading animal behaviorist and autism expert, Dr. Temple Grandin will speak at the University of California, Riverside on Tuesday, May 21, at 7 p.m. in Highlander Union Building, Room 302. She will be introduced by Dr. Jan Blacher, Distinguished Professor and Director of SEARCH, the University of California's first family autism resource center housed in the Graduate School of Education.

 

This event is free and open to the public. No tickets will be issued so arriving early is strongly recommended. Doors will open at 6pm. Parking for non-UC permit holders costs $5 in Lot 1.   For more information, please visit www.ucriversidepresents.ucr.edu

Congratulations to Cristina Gonzalez on beng awarded the Bonnie Polis Award!

Cristina Gonzalez has been employed with The Wylie Center (previously the Youth Service Center) as an Outreach Counselor in our school based counseling program since 2001 and has been working with children and families for over eleven years. She holds a bachelors degree in behavioral science from California Baptist University. During her time with the agency, she has worked at various schools throughout Riverside County at all levels; elementary, middle and high school. Cristina currently works at middle schools and one high school in Alvord Unified School District. She serves on the School Attendance Review Board as the Wylie Center representative for Alvord School District. In addition to working in the schools, she also has taught parenting classes such Triple P and Incredible Years, in both English and Spanish, at school sites and community organizations and currently teaches a Spanish Triple P parenting class at local Riverside Unified School District school. As a long time member of the Outreach team she holds valuable insight and knowledge of the needs of schools and students and acts as mentor and teacher to newly hired staff. She has attended numerous trainings over the years to keep current on the latest problems facing youth including most recently topics such as Human Trafficking and Synthetic Drugs. Cristina is a tireless advocate for children and families. She has a passion and compassion for working with students and families that is apparent to all who meet her. Her positive demeanor and her desire to help whenever and wherever she is needed is what makes Cristina such a valuable asset to the Wylie Center.
