Public Input Sought on Economic Development

April 30, 2013

The Estes Valley Economic Development Task Force will host a public presentation and discussion for residents of the Estes Valley at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30th at the Estes Park Conference Center.

The Task Force, chaired by Greg Rosener, has been at work since May of 2012 developing a workable blueprint for a sustained and comprehensive economic development initiative for the Estes Valley. In December the Task Force released its draft report, The Estes Valley's Economic Future: The Path Forward. This 32-page document outlines seven actions needed to create the Estes Park Office for Economic Development, functioning under the direction of a broad-based Economic Development Council.

In late February, as part of its effort to obtain public input, the Task Force invited Downtown Colorado, Inc. (DCI), a well-known, Denver-based economic development organization, to conduct a two-day assessment of Estes Park. The assessment sought comment from over 130 individuals. At the end of the assessment process, DCI presented an initial summary of its findings at a Town Board meeting. DCI's final written report, due early this spring, will be used to inform and focus the Task Force's final document. Although the DCI meeting included public input, it did not focus specifically on the Task Force's recommendations.

The Task Force has continued to hold smaller meetings to identify economic issues of local concern and seek input on its proposals. The public meeting on April 30th is intended to provide an opportunity for everyone in the community to discuss the Task Force's draft document and its recommendations. Copies of this document are available on the website of Estes Valley Partners for Commerce at
