Alums share their experience with current VISTAs!

On April 10th, five VISTA alums served on an online panel to discuss their transition to life beyond the year of service. The panel comprised of NC Campus Compact VISTA alums Monica Palmeira, Anya Pitrowski, Sally Parlier and Robyn Stegman as well as Ohio Campus Compact VISTA alum and current supervisor at ECU, Nichelle Shuck.

The panelists candidly spoke of their decision making process, what resources they used, the challenges they faced and what they could have done differently. They also spoke about how they talk about their VISTA service years and how the experience affected what they do now. Most of all they asked all our VISTAs to enjoy themselves and their service year and to make the most of it.

Thanks to all our panelists for your passion and commitment to service and for taking the time to speak to the VISTAs!

Serve-A-Year Campaign launched

Eighteen of the country's leading non-profit organizations have come together to launch the Serve-A-Year Campaign with ServiceNation that will connect content creators in Hollywood with AmeriCorps members serving in communities across the country. The campaign aims to inspire millions of Americans to serve by enlisting the voices of prominent leaders from both political parties, the entertainment industry, digital partners, major companies, leading nonprofits, and AmeriCorps alumni.  Learn more here.

On March 23rd, Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation, joined Jimmy Kimmel to launch the campaign. Here is the funny PSA that calls for everyone to join the Ninja Warrior Squadron!
