Yard Sale Follow-Up
Last Saturday's MANJ Yard Sale was well attended with many "shoppers" coming through and several items were sold. While raising money for the Cape Cod renovations, we also raised awareness of our school!
Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped behind the scenes, especially Mary Campbell (Benjamin/Metaxia, Veronica/Matt), Tricia Cleff (Patrick/ADM) and Jessica Tighe and Jed Morfit (Maddox/Metaxia, Lily/Merike) and to Ms. Ann (Comp-Ed teacher) for her donations.
We are going to keep the sale items available until renovation work is ready to begin inside and hope to be open on additional Saturdays for interested parents. You may also call the office at 856-461-2121 to schedule a time when the "Yard Sale" can be opened for your perusal.

Shopping online this Christmas?
Try Yahoo-powered GoodSearch when searching for the perfect gifts and MANJ will earn money with each new search! Click the link above or the picture to the left, and designate "Montessori Academy of NJ" as the charity you want to support. Then use GoodSearch just as you would any search engine; get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up! Forget the traffic and the long lines; stay home "Black Friday" and visit GoodShop.com, an online mall which donates up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause. Hundreds of great stores including Amazon.com®, Target®, Gap®, Best Buy®, eBay™, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you'll be supporting MANJ. When you've had your fill of turkey leftovers, treat the family to dinner out but remember to sign-up at GoodDining.com first. Find a participating restaurant, register the credit card you will be paying with and MANJ will earn up to 6 percent! It's a win-win situation all around; no dishes to wash and MANJ earns money to put toward valuable programs for our students. Thank you for remembering Montessori Academy this Holiday Season!

The Giving Tree is a tradition at Montessori Academy which was started at the request of teachers, staff and Mrs. Fox. Rather than personal gifts, we prefer items for the classroom. Note: no parent should feel obligated, as participation in the Giving Tree is voluntary.
Starting on Monday, November 26th, the tree will be ready for "picking". Color-coded ornaments under the teacher's names have a brief description of an item "wished" for and where it can be found on the back.
If the item is from the Montessori Services catalog (Small Hands catalog), be sure to tell the cus tomer service representative that the item is for the "Montessori Academy of New Jersey Giving Tree". Montessori Services gives 10% of all orders over $25 back to the school in the form of a credit for merchandise. If your order is less than $25, please contact Kim Stevenson at kgsteve@comcast.net or 609-314-4123. She will then combine your order with another so that the school receives credit. To ensure holiday delivery with standard shipping, orders MUST be placed by Monday, December 5th. P.S. Mrs. Fox would like to note that she and the staff always appreciate home-baked goodies anytime.

Spotlight on the Toddler Community
Fall is well underway and our new children have settled down very nicely. A few of our toddlers have graduated to the next level and we miss them. Now that it is cooler, we go on shorter walks and collect dry leaves. The children are always excited to carry their own leaves and when we return to our classroom, we glue them on paper.
The toddlers, even the youngest ones, enjoy feeding the chickens and guinea hens. They are having a lot of fun playing in the new tube under the steps on the toddler deck and the older children have been raking leaves with Ms. Carmen.
In October, the toddlers decorated pumpkins, provided by the MANJ Parent Association, and created many art projects related to Halloween. An exciting treat for the children was to play with special Play Doh® that Tricia Cleff (Patrick's mom) had provided. One kind was black with glitter and the other one was pumpkin colored with the aroma of cinnamon.
We have been preparing for Thanksgiving by working on some fun new projects. We have been reading Thanksgiving books and decorating cut out turkeys with feathers and glitter. The toddlers enjoy "drawing" turkeys by having their hands traced and seeing their thumb become the turkey's head and their fingers become his feathers. We add feet and paste eyes to complete our "handy" turkeys!
Happy Thanksgiving from the Toddlers, Ms. Ratna & Ms. Carmen

MANJ Community Service Hour
Wednesday, December 5th ~ 3:00-4:00pm
Students are invited to join the PA on Wednesday, December 5th from 3:00 to 4:00(+) pm for our first after school community service hour. This will be a chance for our children to get involved with a "hands on" project assembling holiday gift bags for the residents at a local nursing home, Riverview Estates. There will also be a homemade bookmark craft that they can make to include in the gift bags. The next community service hour (planned for February) will be after 4:00pm to be more easily accessible for elementary students as well.
To ensure adequate supplies, please RSVP right away by email to Renita Brady (Keaton/Ms. Assunta and Hayes/alumnus) at renita20@comcast.net or Julie Rajan (Kartik/ADM and Meena/Toddlers) at vgjrajan@gmail.com.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: The Community Service Committee will provide the supervision and the gift bags/wrapping, however, we are asking for donations for various items. There is a donation collection bin inside the new entrance.
ALL ITEMS CAN BE FOUND AT LOCAL DOLLAR STORES!

The Toys For Tots™ donation bin is conveniently located just inside the main entrance foyer. You or your child(ren) may deposit their donation as they enter the building.
Click here for more information including ideas for preteens and teens.
This is an opportunity for our Montessori community to bring joy to children in need in our local community. Thank you for your support of this very important service project and for encouraging our children to make it a truly happy holiday season for others!
