GSCS TRANSPORTATION INSPECTION SOARS
Griffin-Spalding County School System's (GSCS) 2015 bus inspection earned a pass rate of 94%. Compared to past inspections, GSCS showed great improvement. The total of defects was reduced by 49% and the total of serious defects was reduced by 48%. None of the discovered defects were safety related but rather minor oil and fuel leaks which can be expected during cold temperatures.
"Considering the current age of our fleet, this is a big accomplishment and stellar improvement compared to past years. This shows a tremendous effort by our fleet manager and shop staff. Their hard work and daily efforts to ensure the safety of our students should be recognized," said Todd Harris, transportation director.
The GSCS Transportation Department Fleet Manager is Kenneth Brooks and mechanics are Joel Pudzer, Larry Butler, Chuck Oxenford, Don Speers and shop assistant Robert McDowell. They were recognized at the Board of Education meeting on March 3.
