Dr. Curtis Jones
Dear GSCS Employees,

Are you thankful? I am very thankful. Each Thanksgiving I take time to pause and reflect on the many things that I am grateful for; my family, friends, good health, and job. I am a very fortunate and blessed person. It is very easy to get caught up in the day to day and forget to appreciate the many blessings we've been given.

As I reflect, on our last day before Thanksgiving break, I want to say thank you. Thank you for being a part of our school system and for working hard to educate our students. I am thankful that you love our students and give the extra time and effort to help them have a better future.  I know our students are thankful for you, although they may not say it, sometimes just showing up is their way of saying thank you.

Thank you to our Board of Education for allowing us to do our jobs. I am thankful to the citizens of Griffin-Spalding for supporting us in so many ways. I am thankful for the state of Georgia and for the United States of America. I am blessed; we are blessed.

As you prepare for Thanksgiving, please take the time to reflect on the many blessings in your life and enjoy spending time with your family and friends. Have a wonderful break and come back ready to finish this first semester strong.

I want to give a special thank you to Ms. Layton's and Ms. Colquitt's kindergarten class at Cowan Road Elementary; the Happy Thanksgiving picture you sent made my day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

To: GHS, Leigh Jackson, & CAP students

Dr. Jones received this message...

Today, the GHS Culinary Arts Program prepared and served lunch for the SC Senior Citizen Center's Thanksgiving Luncheon. I had to stop and congratulate Leigh Jackson and her students for an excellent job. The food was exceptional; their service and demeanor was professional, all which added to the event.

Simply stated, Leigh and her student's efforts allowed GSCS and GHS to truly shine today.

A sincere "Thank You" to Leigh and her students for an exceptional job!

GSCS KIDS COMMUNICATE

I was going over the dress code and said "no caps of any kind can be worn during the school day".... my student replied, "great, so I don't have to wear my thinking cap!"

Students were asked to write a short story on the below subject...

What  would you do if Santa was stuck in your chimney?

"I would take some toys. I mean, wouldn't you? He is stuck so he can't move to other peoples houses. Then I would eat his cookies. I would let my little brother take some toys too. I would take a pretty wig!"
