Don't miss out on the final performance of the Savannah Philharmonic's 2013/2014 season!

Our 5th Anniversary Season comes to a rousing conclusion with the Season Finale concert featuring Grieg's ebullient Piano Concerto in A minor and Mahler's emotional and tumultuous Symphony No. 5 this Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 7:30pm at the Johnny Mercer Theatre.

Concert pianist, Quynh Shannon, will perform as soloist in Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor. Of Grieg's piece, Quynh states, "It's absolutely magnificent, every single detail and note.  Everybody knows the melody. I knew the 1st movement already. However, as I learned the 2nd movement, it's so natural. You can hear the church bells and the sounds in the village. Then, you get the raging storm in the 3rd movement."

Mahler: Symphony No. 5: Part I: Mov. 2 - Part 1 of 2
Mahler: Symphony No. 5: Part I: Mov. 2 - Part 1 of 2

Of the Mahler piece, Peter Shannon explains, "It is the largest orchestra we've had to date. Mahler is known as the giant of symphonic repertoire. This symphony goes from one emotional extreme to another in 30 seconds. Each emotion is amplified to the extreme. It is exhausting to conduct as each notes oozes emotion. The orchestra has been preparing for over a month before even arriving in Savannah. You can't play Mahler's Symphony No. 5 without completely committing. Pair the Mahler with the Grieg, one of the most perfect, exquisite Piano Concerti every composed, and you get an epic evening of music."

Tickets to the Season Finale are still available and range from $16 to $60. They may be purchased by calling the Savannah Box Office at 912.525.5050 or visiting savannahphilharmonic.org.

A pre-concert talk presented by John Canarina of the Savannah Friends of Music will precede the concert beginning at 6:30pm in the Johnny Mercer Theatre.

Where are you from originally?
Savannah Native

Where did you go to school?
Savannah Country Day School and The University of Georgia

Family:
-Emerson Ham IV - 18 years old, Freshman at Virginia Tech (Engineering)
-Harrison Ham - 15 years old, Sophomore at SCDS
-Isabelle Ham - 12 years old, 6th grader at SCDS

What drew you to the field of Wealth Management?
I had an interest in the markets at a young age because my grandmother used to give me certificates of stock shares at birthdays and Christmas each year. These were small numbers of shares in companies I would recognize and follow when I was a child. Coca-Cola, Disney, Hershey's, etc... I'm not sure she knew she was launching a career!

What is your favorite thing about living and working in Savannah?
It's impossible to point out just one thing! I love everything from the beauty of our waterways to our increasingly chic downtown area. I am always reminded that we are blessed to live and work in a city that so many smart, successful people - people who have lived all over the world - choose as their place to retire!

What does a typical Saturday in Savannah look like for you?
It really depends on the time of year.  We love to boat or beach in the spring and summer, often I will travel with my family, MANY soccer games with my kids, or simply working in the yard or on my home.

How long have you been with Bouchillon, Ham & Dekle Group?

We started the group around 1994. There is some debate about exactly when we decided
to "formally" merge our practices but we began laying the foundation at that point.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Studying the markets and also spending time with the wonderful clients with whom we work.

What drew you to get involved with the Savannah Philharmonic?
We have a number of friends and clients who work closely with the Philharmonic who approached us about getting involved. Needless to say, we jumped at the chance!

Why do you believe the Savannah Philharmonic's and Bouchillon, Ham & Dekle Group's partnership is so important?
A large portion of our clientele are retirees. When people have chosen Savannah as a retirement destination over many other choices, we consistently hear that they made the decision because Savannah has so much to offer in the arts, culture, history, etc. versus other destinations they have visited. We strongly believe that the Philharmonic is an important cornerstone of the growing cultural attractiveness of our great city.
