Savannah Voice Festival August 3 - 17
Celebrating the Vocal Arts
|
Music lovers in Savannah are counting the days until the newest Festival dedicated to the vocal arts - the Savannah VOICE Festival - begins. The Festival will be a summer celebration of beautiful singing with a dozen events which will include a range of musical styles originating from the operatic tradition which will encompass Opera, Sacred Music, Broadway and Popular Music. Savannah's newest cultural happening will take place from August 3-17 and they will be collaborating with the Savannah Philharmonic's finest for a special 'Prelude to the Opera' on August 9. The Westin Savannah Harbor is where singers and teachers will take up residence throughout the Festival and where around half of the concerts will take place including the elegant 'Prelude to the Opera', which is open exclusively to VOICE Society members and a limited number of Savannah Philharmonic members. The VOICE Society was launched for people who want to help support the educational and community outreach programs of the Festival but also enables people to enjoy some exclusive events which will enable them to meet the stars of today and tomorrow and enjoy a number of discounts and benefits from local businesses. Membership is $150 for individual members, $250 for couples and $300 for families. Maria Zouves, is the Executive Director of VOICExperience, a non-profit arts education organization. A talented soprano in her own right who has had leading roles with many of America's top opera companies, she is married to opera legend, Sherrill Milnes. Five-time Grammy nominated three time Grammy winner and 2008 Opera News Award winner, Milnes is the most recorded American opera singer in history. Zouves and Milnes founded the VOICExperience Foundation thirteen years ago to preserve the operatic tradition and share their knowledge with a new generation of singers. This dynamic couple and several VOICExperience artists have been on the Savannah music scene for some time as they performed during National Opera Week last October and more recently at a promotional concert in January. Singers of all ages and all levels come into the program to work. They learn from each other and build on their skills in order to become better at whatever place they are. From the first performance - `Death by Aria' on August 3rd to the 'Festival Finale' on August 17th audiences will see a huge difference in the performers". To enjoy the Festival people can choose to dip in and out or attend every event. A third of these events are free and open to the public with the majority of others priced at an affordable $15. In addition, Festival season passes will be available valued at $115 for only $95. Chocolat by Adam Turoni Supports the Savannah Philharmonic

David Pratt, Executive Director & Adam Turoni, Owner
|
The Savannah Philharmonic was delighted to receive a call recently from Adam Turoni with wonderful news that he is donating a percentage of the profits each month from the sales of his creation the Savannah Philharmonic Hazelnut Crme (fresh roasted hazelnut puree mixed with dark chocolate crispy crepes, with a whole hazelnut center). "I am inspired by many things in this beautiful city of ours and particularly so by the beautiful music that the Savannah Philharmonic brings to us season after season. Because at the core of the organization is the appreciation, education and elevation of the artistic, I decided to create a truffle that would bond our two brands with shared visions as one," said Turoni.
We are grateful for the support from Adam and his team. Please visit his downtown store at 323 W. Broughton St and take along your membership card for a deal on some exquisite chocolates and don't forget to try our own Hazelnut Crme chocolate!
