Got Huggy Bear?

If you're a young mother, what object do your children cling to as you settle them down for bed at night? A yellow fuzzy blanket? A floppy purple monkey? (And, of course, if it's an animal, it ALWAYS has a goofy name.) My son carried a black and gray penguin. Heaven forbid if we ever lost the thing.

We're no different. As adult women we need a "penguin," too. Because God is an emotional God and because we were made in His image, we have feelings. But what happens when they manage us instead of us managing them?

Friend, I'm pumped! My new book for single mothers was officially released last week,The Single Mom and Her Rollercoaster Emotions, endorsed by Focus on the Family. And though the book is written with single moms in mind, the principles apply to every woman addressing issues we all face.

  • What do we do when the Ferris Wheel of devastation barges into our day unexpectedly?
  • When will the twirling Spinnaker of anger and bitterness come to a halt?
  • How can we stop the bumper cars of loneliness, low self-worth and guilt?

God's given us an answer.  It's found in our heavenly Huggy Bear, God's Word, where the Father comforts:

  • Sit with Me, and you'll find companionship.   Psalm 46:10
  • Squeeze Me, and you'll discover help.   Psalm 46:1
  • Snuggle with Me, and you'll feel love.   Romans 8:35

I don't know about you, but I'm learning that the older I get, the more I need Jesus in my roller coaster.  While my hands might be up in the air during the ride yelling, "Help me, Jesus, help me," He's fully relaxed sitting next to me with every circumstance of mine firmly resolved under the tracks of His feet.

Hebrews 13:8 encourages, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The way I figure it, if He got in the boat with His disciples during the raging storm, then He'll surely get in the roller coaster with my raging emotions.

Big hugs,

Pam
