I'll never forget the night when I was "almost" a single mom. I had a person follow my husband after work to see why he wasn't coming home at night. The investigation results did not make me a happy camper.
"Pam," my friend reported, "His car pulled into someone's garage and the door went down." My mind immediately jumped into action. Like a maniac on a mission, I strapped my babies in their car seats while they slept, and I followed my informant to the 'crime scene.'
When I rang the doorbell, 'she' answered. I about ruptured my vocal chords, "Send MY husband out here...NOW!" His face suddenly appeared on the front porch. "What are you doing here?" he inquired. "NO!" I raged. "What are YOU doing here?" I was so angry I could have killed that man.
In the blink of an eye our emotions can spread like stage 4 cancer; yet, we have the power that very moment to determine if the spark will become a full-fledged inferno.
Thank heavens my babies never woke up that night. What was I thinking subjecting them to that kind a scenario? Anger and rage can make you do stupid things. So 'pray up' before 'who knows what' might happen. Ask the Holy Spirit now for wisdom when you're faced with the unexpected, and always remember in the heat of the situation to ask yourself this question: "WHAT'S BEST FOR MY KIDS?"
