Fred Anderson Park | 1629 S. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL | www.FredAndersonPAC.org
About the Fred Anderson PAC On Tuesday July 1, 2014, a meeting was held to form a park advisory council (PAC) for the purpose of nominating officers and to be a registered PAC with the Chicago Park District. The PAC and membership has met since then to monitor construction progress, and discuss plans for a grand opening celebration (to be held Spring 2015). The park quietly opened in late December, 2014.
What is a PAC? The stated purpose of PAC as outlined by the CPD: "To have a positive impact on the park and surrounding community. Provide CPD staff with an advisory voice related to a specific park. These matters include but are not limited to Facilities, Equipment Improvements, Programming, Landscaping, Budgeting, Safety/ Security & Overall Service. Fundraising for the purchase of equipment or additional programming."
Get involved! Much work is needed in order to organize and manage the park to be a successful community venture. Lend your expertise in proposing rules & regulations, programming for the park and performance area, and generating ideas to build a South Loop community focal point. Come by the PAC meeting to learn more and meet your neighbors.

Elephant Room Gallery Presents Subterranean
Location: 704 S Wabash Ave.
When: Friday, January 16th | 5:30PM - 8:00PM
|
Elephant room gallery is proud to present the exhibition "subterranean", a visual duet of painterly expression with the collaborative work of Lewis Graham Taylor (yams) and Christie Chew-Wallace opening January 16th. After first meeting at elephant room two years ago during a graffiti fundamentals class taught by Taylor, the pair met up again at lacuna artist lofts where their studios were just across the hall from one another. They soon began to collaborate on works together on canvas. Chew-Wallace's more traditional paintbrush realism fuses with the spray paint imagery of Taylor (known as yams in the graffiti writer community) in a compelling collision of color and expression. Their gestural play of mark making utilizes a variety of mediums, requiring the viewer to delve deeply into the multi-faceted layers of aesthetic found in each piece. The result of their collaborative work is playful yet artistically mature and harmoniously diverse. In short, it is a visual conversation between the two artists. After rounds of trading their canvases back and forth between studios, the works will end up at elephant room in a culmination of their visual chemistry. The exhibition runs January 16th through February 21st with an opening reception on Friday, January 16th from 5:30 to 8pm.
