The Tulsa Area United Way will hold its Annual Live United Luncheon and Awards to take a look back at the successes of 2014 and the history-making campaign.

This event will be an opportunity to thank the many companies, organizations and individuals who supported our community through a generous donation to the United Way.

Free tax preparation is available for families meeting specific income requirements through a coalition of community organizations led by the Tulsa Area United Way.

YOUR GENEROSITY IS PROVIDING ADDITIONAL FUNDING TO 15 AGENCIES
 


Due to a campaign surplus of more than $400,000, 15 Tulsa Area United Way partner agencies will receive additional funding.
  • Seven basic needs agencies, that provide food, clothing and shelter, will receive $10,000 each.
  • $72,500 will go to the Mental Health Association of Oklahoma to help meet increasing housing needs of individuals overcoming homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse or a history of incarceration.
  • Morton Comprehensive Health Services will receive $50,000 to sustain and expand a program for homeless and low-income persons who need transportation to pharmacies, grocery stores and social service agencies.
  • Crosstown Learning Center will receive $40,000 to help attract and retain more highly qualified teachers for its early childhood program for children from six weeks through pre-kindergarten.
  • Other United Way agencies receiving over-goal funding include Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, $50,000; KIPP Tulsa College Preparatory, $40,000; Street School, $40,000; YWCA, $25,000; and Parent Child Center of Tulsa, $12,500.

MICHELLE'S STORY




Michelle Caldwell has blossomed since she started her job on a cleaning crew.
She received help getting her job from The Bridges Foundation, a United Way agency that provides vocational services for adults with intellectual disabilities.

She works five days a week with the janitorial staff at the Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League.

"I really like the people I work with and I like earning a paycheck," Michelle says.
