The Tulsa Area United Way will officially kick off and announce the goal of its annual campaign for the community at the Live United Crosstown Showdown - the legendary Broken Arrow-Owasso High School football rivalry - on Friday, Sept. 5.

The deadline to enter the United Way Golf Scramble is circling the cup!

Four-player teams will head out to the green on Aug. 22 for an 8 a.m. shotgun start. This tournament includes balls, prizes, trophies and lunch. Cost is $400 for each team and optional mulligans at $5 each with a deadline to enter of Aug. 15.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. All proceeds benefit the Tulsa Area United Way 2014 Campaign.

Supporters of the Tulsa Area United Way can stand up for their community and go "Over the Edge" of a 20-story tower on Friday, Oct. 10.

Individuals who want to rappel over the edge of One Warren Place at 61st and Yale Ave. are asked to raise at least $1,000 in support of the United Way, above their regular annual contributions or payroll deductions.

Participants do not need experience in rappelling.

All proceeds will benefit the Tulsa Area United Way.

Emeka Nnaka's life changed in an instant when making a tackle as a defensive end for the Oklahoma Thunder semi-professional football team.

He received a wheelchair, lift and hospital bed from Ability Resources, a United Way partner agency.

Now 26, Emeka, still an athlete at 6'5", works out daily at the Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges, also a United Way agency.
