DAY OF CARING TO KICK OFF WITH BREAKFAST SEPTEMBER 6
 


 
The Tulsa Area United Way's annual Day of Caring will kick off with a free breakfast and program at 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, 2143 S. Olympia Ave.

 

After the breakfast and program, a record 5,000 Day of Caring participants will disperse to job sites across the Tulsa area. Several job sites will be located in the Eugene Field neighborhood and Red Fork area in southwest Tulsa.  

 

"Holding our breakfast and kick off program in the Eugene Field neighborhood where we will be completing service projects really gets at the heart of what the Day of Caring is all about," said Mark Graham, TAUW president and CEO.

CAMPAIGN GOAL TO BE ANNOUNCED AT BACKYARD BOWL



The Tulsa Area United Way will announce its annual goal and kick off its campaign at the MidFirst Backyard Bowl between Jenks and Union High Schools on Friday, Sept. 13, at the University of Tulsa's Chapman Stadium.

LEAVE A LASTING IMPRESSION



Finding personal true beauty and making an impact on the community will be the topic of an upcoming event sponsored by the Tulsa Area United Way Women's Leadership Council.  

 

The group will hold a fall reception, "Leaving a Lasting Impression" on Sept. 26 at the Mayo Hotel at 4:30 pm.

GO OVER THE EDGE FOR YOUR COMMUNITY



Young professionals and other supporters of the Tulsa Area United Way can stand up for their community and go "Over the Edge" of the 20-story One Warren Place tower on Friday, Oct. 4

 

The "Over the Edge" event will formally launch the Tulsa Area United Way's new Emerging Leaders Society, an organization for young professionals in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

GIRL SCOUTS BEYOND BARS: JOLAUNDA'S STORY


In the last 10 years, Shannon and Jolaunda Luper have helped thousands of Girl Scouts reunite with their mothers in prison.

 

This mother-daughter team and a group of volunteers transport girls to prisons where they hold scout meetings through the Girl Scouts Beyond Bars program, offered by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma. Presently, 477 girls are enrolled in the program.
