I hope this note finds you well....

I've started the new year reorganizing my business stuff. You'll see a fresh new cohesive look on my website, blog and even this newsletter before too long! This has been on my "to-do" list for an embarrassingly long time. So I'm patting myself on the back for finally tackling it! (I hope I don't pull something!)

I bought a Macbook and am learning how to navigate everything with it. See Beaker?... that's what my expression has been all too often!

Have a great weekend!

Hot Off the Easel!
Ok... so this is "not so" hot off the easel... I know it's been a while!
Last spring, I was adding stitching to some of my work. I love the act of sewing, so combining painting, collage, and sewing is right up my alley!

"Sara" 4x4 acrylic, fabric collage, and stitching on paper.
I did a series of these "everyday angels." A lot of fun for me... If you're interested, contact me for more information and availability.

"Caution Tape" 6x6 acrylic mono print and stitching
I also created a number of these abstract collages... Made with Gelli plate mono prints. Talk about an addictive process...whoa!  I was "gellin" for days!
The process is done by rolling acrylic paint onto the soft rubbery gelli plate and then drawing and stamping into the wet paint, then lay a piece of clean paper on top and pull the print off.

OOOOWWW AAAHHHHH!
Great fun!
Idea Spark-lers

Inspiration to use in your own creative work...

Think about what media suits the subject, before you start.

Learn from my mistake.

I had the idea to paint our new daughter-in-law's bridal bouquet for her for a Christmas gift. Great idea, right!? So I jumped in with my trusty acrylics... beginning 2 at the same time. I worked on and off for a few weeks... seriously... weeks. (those of you that know me, know that I'm a speedy painter... weeks on a 12x12 canvas is unheard of!) I just couldn't get it right!

I had decided to start over and suddenly realized that the acrylic wasn't the right medium to use for the delicacy and softness of her bouquet. Eureka! Watercolor would be much better suited to my vision! That was it!!!

"Cristina's Bouquet"12x12 watercolor

She was delighted with her gift...and I was delighted that she was delighted. :)
