PCI COMPLIANCE

Upgrading from Windows XP

PCI Compliant With the approaching deadline for the end of support of Windows XP, now is the time to start planning (and budgeting) for the system upgrades that will be needed to replace Windows XP on your server, office PCs and POS workstations.

If you are still using Windows XP on April 8, 2014, YOU WILL NOT be PCI Compliant.

We are happy to help you determine if you need to upgrade your operating system.

If you are using a POS system that was not installed by DCRS, contact your local POS vendor for assistance.

NEW IRS RULE WILL AFFECT THE WAY RESTAURANTS REPORT
AUTOMATIC SERVICE CHARGES

Starting January 1, 2014, the IRS will implement a new rule that will consider automatic gratuities as service charges, making them subject to payroll tax withholding rather than tips, which many restaurants leave up to their employees to report as income.

This will become a cumbersome administrative burden for restaurants and have a significant financial impact for servers, most of whom do not report 100% of their tips to the IRS.

With this new change, many restaurants will do away with an automatic service charge for large parties and will likely move to a suggested tip system.

CHANGING THE GAME WITH mTABLET & mSTATION

DCRS is pleased to offer the newest hardware from MICROS, the mTablet and mStation. By functioning both as a fully functional stationary device when combined, or when appropriate, using the mTablet as a mobile device, these new products, working in tandem with MICROS' industry leading software applications, redefine the point-of-sale solutions from MICROS.

The mTablet and mStation are compatible with many existing MICROS software platforms, currently including MICROS RES and Simphony 1, and scheduled for later in 2014, the MICROS e7.  And, unlike consumer devices, the mTablet has an optional model that has a daylight viewable screen, as well as a standard viewable screen. The mTablet provides secure, fully integrated payment processing, without fragile adapters or plug-ins, and uses the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth standards. The mStation, as the companion to the mTablet, provides the versatility and flexibility of a fully connected workstation.

There is so much more to the mTablet and mStation.  For a full overview, contact DCRS today.

"WASTE MANAGEMENT": CHECK YOUR TRASH

When was the last time you looked through the trash at your restaurant? You can find out many telling things about your operation by simply looking in the garbage. What might you find? Do you see flatware or kitchen utensils tossed by careless employees or customers?

How much food is in there? Can you reduce your portion sizes and costs? You can also tell whether guests are enjoying what is on their plate. If you see one item constantly coming back from a dish, you can try to replace it with something that will be eaten entirely.

MORE THAN JUST A MENU...

DIGITAL MARKETING & MENU BOARD SYSTEMS

Digital marketing and menu board systems are gaining popularity in restaurants, sports bars, food courts and quick service establishments.  The reason is simple - the screens are smart, sleek and high tech.  Equally important, the menus can be updated with ease to reflect new items, offers and pricing to many locations at once and from a remote location.

Conveying messages to consumers via digital marketing systems has become increasingly practical and cost-effective. A fully integrated feature of the MICROS RES point-of-sale (POS) system, this dynamic technology captures customers' attention better than static menu boards.

MICROS includes the Digital Menu Board functionality as an optional core feature in the MICROS RES POS solution, and the MICROS Simphony 1 solution can interface to several third-party providers. So when you're ready to deploy this innovative technology for your business, MICROS is ready with Digital Signage Marketing & Menu Board Systems!
