Parents, we need your help! See details below.
HELP NEEDED -- This event takes a village! Please volunteer at your classroom booths. Contact your classroom Amigos' Fiesta rep or Jenna Wittkow to find out where we are short of volunteers -- there are many slots left. We can also use 3 more coolers to keep the water and juice cold as it will be a hot day.
Pre-ordered tickets and game bracelets will be given to your child at school on Friday.
$10 game bracelets, $5 packs of concession tickets, and a limited quantity of adult and child dinner tickets will be sold at the event on Friday.

Testing Reminders
Make Sure Your Child is Well Rested and Please Don't Book Appointments During Testing
- Testing began this week for 4th and 5th graders (as well as some 2nd and 3rd graders). There ARE After School Programs this week.
- All 2nd-5th graders will be tested next week on Tuesday May 7th, Wednesday May 8th and Thursday May 9th. There WILL NOT be After School Programs next week EXCEPT for After School Wednesday classes.

PTO Executive Board Nominations for the 2013-14 School Year
All LJES PTO members are entitled and encouraged to nominate and vote for the 2013-2014 Executive Board Members. Six Executive Board positions will be vacated at the end of this school year and one new position will be added to the Executive Board. Each position is a 2-year commitment.
The 2012-13 Executive Board is proposing the following nominations:
President: Aimee Lansky
VP Volunteers: Tami Rumbaugh
VP Communications: Luba Khomskaya
VP Programs: Kat Peppers
VP Historian/Tidings: Sharon Miller
Auditor: Kathy Grieve
VP Room Parents: Jenna Wittkow (new Executive Board position for the 2013-2014 school year)

Other nominations are always encouraged and welcomed. Please email Julie MacDonald at juliemacd@me.com with any nominations. Nominations will also be taken from the floor at our May 9th meeting, at 8am in the LJES library. If there is more than one candidate, a ballot vote will be taken at the meeting. As always, the LJES PTO meetings are open to all members, and we encourage everyone to attend.

UPforED believes in great teachers and great schools. In support of this belief, UPforEd is recognizing and rewarding a great teacher in San Diego Unified each month with a $500 gift card and special mention on their website. After reviewing parent nominations, UPforEd staff, in conjunction with their Educational Advisory Committee, will choose the most compelling nomination. Last day of lap counts is May 17th. Run Club will continue through the end of May. Run Club Awards at Friday Pledge May 31st, 9am. Top 3 boys and top 3 girls from each grade level will be recognized. La Jolla Kiwanis Jr. Olympics!
