What is the Party Book? Various LJES families have offered to host a series of parties to benefit the school, and all members of the school community have the opportunity to buy tickets and attend. Some parties are for kids, some are for adults, some are for families, and ALL are a great way to meet new friends or try something fun and different! See our list of party opportunities below.
1. Oye Como Va - In the Village a Progressive Dinner (adults)
Get in touch with your Latin side while you get to know your fellow LJES parents. No samba dancing required as you hoof it from house to house in the heart of La Jolla. Walk to 3 different host homes, as you enjoy your fabulous Latin-themed evening. Latinize your taste buds with white Sangria with Lemongrass, Ceviche with Mango, Pasta with Roasted Poblano Peppers and Chicken, among other spicy favorites. You'll get the best of both worlds with hot foods and cool company.

2. Bird Rock Progressive Dinner - Mad Men Style (adults)
All you foxes and cats get ready to put on your Betty Draper best and party Mad Men style. Dust off your cat glasses and skinny ties for some retro fun. Come and enjoy classic cocktails and hors d'hoeuvres while you casually saunter from house to house for this evening of frivolity.

3. Movie Night Under the Stars (kids, 1st, 4th and 5th grade)
Calling all 1st, 4th and 5th graders! Gaze at the stars and snuggle under a blanket, while you enjoy popcorn and hot chocolate as you watch your own screening of an outdoor movie! Your child will enjoy their own private flick, while giggling and whispering, in the sanctuary of a LJES family backyard.

Not quite old enough for PG-13, tool old for G? Not to worry! Join other 5th graders for a movie just right for you, under the stars and with your friends. Bring your comfies, PJs are just fine. Don't forget a pillow, sleeping bag or blankets. Enjoy popcorn, a 'candy bar' featuring an array of sweets, and drinks during your own screening of an outdoor movie in the sanctuary of a LJES family backyard.

4. Mom's Night Out Wine Tasting Party (ladies only)
Sneak away from the family and share some laughs with the girls over wine, cheese and dessert. Our wine expert will guide you through a flight of varietals from around the world. Who knows? You might even find a new favorite wine or a new favorite friend. We will raise our glasses and spirits at the historic "Edgemont House." This fascinating location is over 100 years old and currently the home of one of our La Jolla Elementary families.

5. Beach House BBQ & Ski Boat Party (family)
Want to spend the day at the beach without lugging the cooler, umbrella, and bbq through the sand? Come and spend the day on Mission Bay at the bay front home of one of our LJES families. The BBQ will be fired up and so will the speed boat. Water ski, wake board or get towed along in style, then clean up in the warm outdoor shower and grab a cold drink. This is going to the beach the civilized way. The less water prone members of the family can sit on the patio and watch the world go by. Everyone in the family is sure to have a terrific time.

6. Torrey Pines Hike and Breakfast (adults)
This exuberant adventure will meet at the base of Torrey Pines State Park for a nice hike, at the pace of your choice, on the cliffs above the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Get your hearts pumping while you catch up with a friend while we wind along the trails of Torrey Pines. Afterwards, we will drive a short distance up the road to Brian Malarkey's latest eatery, Green Acre, recently named in San Diego Magazine as one of the "10 Hot Plates" for newly opened eateries! Enjoy coffee and a delicious farm-to-table breakfast overlooking the organic vegetable garden.

7. Mystery Breakfast (girls, 3rd & 4th grade)
Brush the fairy dust off of your sweet little 3rd and 4th grade girls, as they are sweetly surprised, while having just awoken from a good night's slumber. They will be going on a short road trip to the Broken Yolk in Point Loma, where they will meet old, and make new, friends for a Mystery Breakfast. Have them show up in their pjs, as they relish in pancakes, waffles, eggs and more. There's no better way to start a weekend!

8. Paella Ole' (adults)
Come party with the best, as your dinner sizzles, pops and ignites in front of your senses, while you enjoy a glass (or two) of Spanish red wine Sangria. This centuries-old dish may have originated as a humble, rustic meal favored by farmers in Valencia, Spain, but it has re-emerged as the ultimate party food. There's something about the spectacle -- the flames, the sizzle, the aroma -- that makes paella an impressive showpiece!

Join us for a "Mom's Night In" with A-list Trish McEvoy makeup artist Sheila Nellis, who has prettied generations of San Diegans and has been featured in Riviera magazine. We'll enjoy dinner, cocktails and conversation, while getting makeup tips and having our makeup done. Sheila is known for her natural approach, and for "keeping it real- real products for real women."

Get down and dirty as you race around the BMX bike track with your friends. Bring your own bike and the rest will be supplied for you...including pizza and dessert after you've had a blast in your own LJES X Games!
