Issue: #41March 2014

March heralds not only Spring, but new clothing arriving for upcoming warm weather! We began the month with a "Cruise Wear" display, a suggestion for those off to warmer climes*, and an inspiration to those of us here in rainy Seattle to perhaps at least take a few minutes/hours to nap or read, but certainly to refresh! *see my note at end of newsletter

When I first worked in a women's clothing store, there were three distinct seasons - Spring, Fall, Holiday and Cruise. Each had its own collection and its own time in the store. Bathing suits arriving in February in Michigan puzzled me until it was explained that this was the "Cruise" season. This was in the grand old days of Abercrombie & Fitch when it was more of a high-end department store than it has become in recent years. And our clientele traveled. No one I knew, certainly! But that was how I learned about Cruise Wear. I'm not sure if it's still called that, but what the heck - it was a fun theme for a display, which Jane pulled off brilliantly!

We just received the sweetest Spring Collection from DAR in Chicago - romantic, girly, twirly clothing even big girls can
embrace!

Front and Back of a perfect little jacket!

Watch for Texture, due later this month - lots of easy to wear dresses and the Comfy Skirt in a new, shorter, but not mini, length - just right for warmer weather!

Loco Lindo dresses arrive every month - new patterns and new designs as well as the favorite standards. And Niche will be arriving soon, too - classic styling with an edge!

Come by soon and indulge in the promise of Spring!

A couple links for those looking for a warm vacation spot -

My best friend in high school, Deb, and her husband Dan have created an organic bed & breakfast at their homestead in New Mexico. It looks fantastic - and right near the Gila Wilderness - great for hikes and all sorts of outdoor activities. The star-gazing must be dazzling!

California bound? Caron Miller, designer and maker of everyone's favorite fingerless gloves, fake fur neck snugglies, and lots of other goodies, owns this charming cottage in Santa Barbara, within walking distance of the beach!

Hmm... desert or beach? Mountains or sea? Both?

Thanks, as always for choosing to support the handmade, and for shopping small - it is the only reason we are able to be here!
