YMCA SUMMER CAMP 2014

Make the most of summer!  Give your child an adventurous, basketball boy  active and healthy summer.  The Luter Family YMCA Summer Camp provides a fun and unique experience that gives children and teens the opportunity to explore the outdoors, meet new friends, discover new interests and create memories that last a lifetime.

Brandon Fry, Youth and Family Program Director, says there are three reasons why your child should attend summer camp:

  • Y camp is all about youth development.  Amidst the fun of camp games, songs and swimming, campers meet new friends and strengthen existing friendships.
  • Y camp is all about healthy living.  Your child's day will be filled with healthy, physical activity, a departure of screen time, and a chance to enjoy the outdoors safely.
  • Y camp is all about social responsibility.  We give your child a chance to develop confidence and independence by taking on new responsibilities and challenges.

As a leading nonprofit committed to nurturing the potential of youth, the Y has been a leader in providing summer camp for nearly 130 years.  Dowload a camp brochure here, email Brandon Fry, or visit www.peninsulaymca.org for more information.

Join us for a summer of smiles and a lifetime of memories.

APRIL IS VOLUNTEER MONTH
Volunteer of the Year 2013 - Please join us in thanking Julie Carneal for being the Volunteer of the Year.  "At the Y, I found a place that nurtured and believed in building spirit, mind, and body for all; I began volunteering to help the Y reach these goals.  At the Y, I have found friendship that has clarified why we are here...to help others.  I am humbled to be part of the Y family," -Julie Carneal

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities:
  • Smithfield Sprint Triathlon.  Saturday, April 5th, we are hosting the Smithfield Sprint.  Your investment of a few hours of volunteer time will gain the Y a donation to benefit our Guardian financial assistance program.
  • Healthy Kids Day.  Friday, April 26th, we are having a Healthy Kids Day bash at the Y starting at 6:00 p.m.. Would you like to help?

If you would like details about these or future volunteer opportunities please contact Connie Chapman.

Running for a Reason - Y member Darrell Nagy will run the Boston Marathon in April.  He's not running for just his health; he's running for the children of Isle of Wight County.  Darrell has set a goal to raise tax-deductible donations for the Y's Bright Beginnings program which provides children with needed clothing and shoes for school.

To learn more about this remarkable volunteer please take a brochure available in the lobby.
