| FIND YOUR SUMMER ADVENTURE | | |
We know parents worry about technological distractions such as television, cell phones or video games and how they make it difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle for their children. With more free time in summer, ensuring kids practice healthy habits can be an even greater challenge.
To give your child an adventurous, active and healthy summer, the Luter Family YMCA Summer Camp provides a fun and unique experience that gives children and teens the opportunity to explore the outdoors, meet new friends, discover new interests and create memories that last a lifetime.
Brandon Fry, Youth and Family Program Director, says there are five reasons why children and teens should attend summer camp:
- Adventure: Summer camp is all about a wide variety of fun adventures and new experiences. Click here to view a camp brouchure.
- Healthy Fun: Summer camp offers fun activities that engage the body and mind, and also help children and teens learn the importance of nutrition to help improve their eating habits.
- Personal Growth: We give your child a chance to learn new skills, and develop confidence and independence by taking on new responsibilities and challenges.
- New Friendships: Amidst the fun of camp games, songs and swimming, campers meet new friends and strengthen existing friendships.
- Memories: Summer camp is an unforgettable experience that give each camper memories that will last a lifetime. Youth return to school with plenty of camp stories to share!
A leading nonprofit committed to nurturing the potential of youth, the Y has been a leader in providing summer camp for nearly 130 years. Visit www.peninsulaymca.org for more information or contact Brandon Fry. |
| HEALTHY KIDS = HAPPY KIDS | | |

Put some play in your day and join us for Healthy Kids Day in the Park at Nike Park, April 27th, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Hosted by Luter Family YMCA and Isle of Wight Parks & Recreation. FREE and open to the community.
Enjoy games, demonstrations, information and activities focused on exercise, arts, nutrition, health, sports, and summer camps. Look for the DJ, giant slide, moonwalk, prizes and fun! |
| POOL IMPROVEMENTS | | |
On April 28th we are closing the pool for stain removal. We need to lower the pH of the water, add the chemical that targets copper stains and circulate for about 7 days. Once the stains are removed, the pH will be returned to normal levels; this generally takes another 5-7 days. We will also be installing LED lights to brighten the Aquatics Center.
We don't want you to miss your workouts! May we suggest:
- Mix it up a bit by trying a new group exercise class like Zumba, RIPPED, or TRX. Click here for the group exercise schedule.
- See Glenn Lyttle in the Wellness Center for an ActivTrax workout or try the exercise of the week.
- Visit the Newport News, Hampton, or Victory Family YMCA pools.
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve your Y. |
